the sea Christ was born to move men to be holy
and spread the joy of omnipotent love among them

and gold only angelic emissaries from the father were there
as men purport to celebrate Christ’s birth no
angelic praise is forthcoming from much of earth
only the grins of merchant’s gaping cash registers
to the only significant birth in the history of man
celebration is a meaningless word when greed takes
on a new meaning, commercial success at the loss of souls
drop the fabled Santa’s list and unite on that holiest
of nights in song and prayer for Emanuel, the creator’s
gift of gifts, the king of kings come to save us all
Christmas has become commericalized in many ways, but it's what is within one's heart and how they make it. The Christmas spirit shines from with in. It's a gathering of families and a blending of hearts which make it so special as we celebrate the birth of Jesus and give thanks for the awesome blessings of family and friends....M
POW! You confront the flaw in modern-day Christmas celebrations, the absence of the Christ. Keep looking, though. There are still some who remember and worship Him, the one and only Light of the world.
Your final verse pierces my heart with a pointed reminder to glorify Him with other of His true followers this Christmas. (I am trying to do that, and to spread His good news of salvation)

As I wrote in a poem sometime ago, I am grateful for the celebration of Christmas and the New Year, because it gave time for everyone to stop working and for families to get together once a year. That no longer happens in my family, we are so far-flung, but the spirit remains of family time together. Also, as a family, we decided long ago that gift giving was not important.
To me, a secular holiday season is just as good as a strangely warped religious one.
The headlines would read: Commercialism CRUSHES Christ!
A follow up article would say: More people attended Black Friday sales than any prior year. Churches across the nation were virtually empty that following Sunday.
You have written clearly about the infection that consumes the world, casting Christ to the shadows. But, it is people like you who keep that believing light of faith glowing in the window.
