Many parents and educators feel that only a handful of students get bullied. In the United States, about 6 million students are bullied in our schools on a daily basis.
Bullying only affects a small number of kids
This is a myth we must shake
Six million or so, the last time I checked
That's a lot of kids having their heart break
Bullying Tip: Use non-aggressive forms of punishment. Children who receive physical measures of punishment learn it is then acceptable to 'dish out' physical measures of punishment to others. Hitting your child when misbehavior occurs perpetuates aggressive behavior.
Maybe it is time for those being bullied to ban together as a way of fighting back....

I agree hitting is never acceptable with our children and parents that are not trained in appropriate discipline breed bullies. More often not I have found emotional abuse mixed with physical abuse is the foundational culprit for bullies. Those of us who use an occasional swat on the bottom when very young, without anger, establishing loving discipline and boundaries are not in that mix. I for one have proof -- three bright beautiful caring young adults who blossomed under that direction. Thanks for sharing, Deborah
