she takes a shortcut in the sand
pulling grains from a gentle shore
and the riptide becomes weak
in the same moment she appears
there is no aphrodisiac that lies
when the heart is doused in love
when a moon rises in the horizon
and traced by outstretched palms

you can easily measure her soul
by the depth of her fragile smile
when she lies timid in the wake
of a wave that crashes on shore
fearing our names written in sand
will wash away back to the sea
as if love were to be so brittle
as glass perched upon the rocks

but somehow she knows better
that my love will not disappear
that my vision will never erode
in those mere castles in the sand
no, she cannot stand the silence
and I am aware of her loneliness
for I feel it just as deeply as she
in the gravity of the moons pull

I do not waver from my desires
although I am tethered to the past
as she is to long bouts of absence
we still treasure those tiny grains
the little shards of our yesterdays
the tiny fragments of “if we did”
that together forms a neon dream
that reverberates in the shadows

memories are now merged with fog
a marine layer of a lust forgotten
born in the depths of mutual need
as denied in the distance of forever
where we live in the fringe of now
wanting to be kissed by the ocean
where we stubbornly yet hang on
to the remnants of undying youth

The sensuality of your writing blended with such perfect tenderness literally jumps off the page straight into one's heart. You write of love so beautifully, that one tries not to shed tears, but loses the battle in the end. Simply lovely!

Amor,
Sometimes those memories are forever etched in our souls. Another time perhaps for this long lost love. I can feel your words deeply within!
As always your poetry is done with passion and finesse!

Much peace, love and light,
Amber
