My Sweet Sobriety
No greed in thine heart for it all got away
shall pull it together seems one of these days.
Faith gone - job asunder; drinking up for me
lay lowly in the grudge of a chilled variety.
Five grocery bags, I mean all the stuff I had
no money in my pockets, not a dime, no cash.
Shocked into a corner bottled with fear
drenching and a crawling my way out of here.
Neglectful night of darkness, so deeply depressed
fleshy repentance knee deep in this mess.
help me… can't dread being drunk alone
no more drinking, one dry chicken bone?
Burn a light twice within me; see a heavy fight
drain the belly gutter, do it quickly tonight.
Now thirst in thine heart that good got away
thanking you for amends ten-years to this day.
Faith up for a drunk; you were standing up for me
nine years in the blanket of my sweet sobriety!
