Talking With Jesus About Our Anger

This is from my book Finding the Light of Jesus which will be out in November.

Jesus, I come to you

with an angry heart

How can this be?

After all the times

you have forgiven me

Yet, I feel so hurt

And my hurt has turned to anger

I come to you

knowing you will accept me

and my feelings

I come knowing you will welcome

me and listen to my cry

I come with gratitude

For the compassion and care

only you can provide

Situation: I feel angry, yet know as a Christian I am supposed to be loving. How do I handle this?

Jesus says: Oh, my beloved child, don’t run away from me because you are angry. It’s okay. I will not judge you or your feelings. I will listen with love and understanding. You can even be angry at me. Come to me. Tell me your deepest feelings. By expressing your thoughts you can strengthen our relationship. We will work through your anger together. I will not turn away from you, or be angry or disappointed in you.

Activity: Let Jesus know your feelings. You can express them in any way that makes sense to you. You can talk, write, draw, meditate, or reflect on a passage from the Bible. Only you know what is best. Some people give their anger to Jesus in a prayer of some kind. You have the tools you need to handle the anger. You can also go to someone you know who has a strong and mature faith, someone who is able to accept your anger and help you process your feelings and discover why you are angry. Jesus is present there also. It may take time to work through the situation, and that is all right. You just need to keep working on it until you are able to forgive the person and be at peace with yourself. Remember, by forgiving we are not condoning the actions of others; we are only realizing that we all have weaknesses and we all are beloved children of God. Even the person with whom you were angry.

Closing Prayer:

Jesus, help me to know

I can bring you my deepest feelings.

Help me to bring my open heart

and soul along with weaknesses

Help me turn to you daily

so that your love and light

consume my entire being.

Then I can bring your radiant light to others.

Amen.

I can relate to this and in my anger I've prayed that God humbles me. God is good, He's forgiving and loving. And there isn't anything we can't talk to HIM about. HE understands us because HE created us and no one us knows us better than HE! HE embraces us and bring us thru. He's brought me thru some trying times and thru His goodness and mercy, I've been redeemed. I enjoyed your poem, very enlighting Cindy!

I often deal with this, and most often allow it to turn me to depression and despair, but this is a powerful encouragement that gives me a real handle on how to, well, handle it in a more productive manner. Thank you so much for sharing, and may God richly bless you for your prayerful, sensitive Christian walk.

A great write to pray and meditate on. We all get angry at times. Life is not always fair. But we as Christians are winners! We need to start claiming victory and be bold. We are God's children and we were created in God's image. I can't imagine God creating a looser. We simply beat up ourselves with a lot of help from demonic forces. We don't have a choice - we ARE winners. WE are God's creation. So we are good in His eyes from the start. So as a child of God you cannot remain angry - because He says "No" to anger and we are a part of Him. Amen

This spoke volumes to me; have been feeling angry about life myself. Thank you; I needed this.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Texas, Karen Lynn. :(

Please pray for me ...

God knows that anger is merely the shield we raise to cover our pain. . .and that once we release our pain Love shines through again.

Great write, Cindy. We are weak and therefore must turn to Jesus for answers and for His understanding and forgiveness. You do great work and bring guidance as to how we need to stay close to His heart. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
