Dedicated to a prolific writing duo of the late 1800s. The creative works of this African-American couple will always be remembered, but is often misunderstood. bjd
Bathed his pain, Yes, he did, with strong drink and words that flowed like rivers of regret towards a Longing-Sea, where he could be rocked by Rough-Current that Subtle-Softness could not satisfy. Yes, He Wore the Mask that he could not remove without conflicting circumstances, that imprisoned him during a time when secrecy held him bound. Yes, He Wore the Mask that when joined with his womyn's passion, ignited their souls to write poignant words of inspirational-conflict, daring future generations to boldly be themselves. Their shared-desires for unbridled-love reached beyond their capabilities to satisfy each other. Yes, They Wore the Mask bjd

THANK GOD FOR THE 'OUTLET' OF WRITING AND THOUGH IT WAS JUST A SMALL OPENING...IT WAS LARGE ENOUGH FOR THEM TO BREATHE THROUGH THE WORDS, THAT WOULD INSPIRE A POET OVER A HUNDRED YEARS IN THE FUTURE TO REMEMBER THEM. BLESSINGS AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING.

A mask can hide ones face, but love can see beyond and completes all thats offered from the soul. Good poem.....M
