I used to be down and out
When you were up and about
I yearned for wisdom from above
When your knowledge drew the crowd
Oh! That I could turn my darkness to light
But it rained arrows on me
I walked on paths with snakes and snares
You rode in parades of glam and glitz
My thirst was quenched with thorns of fire
You drank from the golden cups you desired
My bitterness and pain turned to resilience and strength
I woke up one day, humbled and displaced
Standing next to you, my grace was embraced
You turned your smile into a frown
While you looked around just like a clown
Higher is how I go. I'm not turning back
STOP LOOKING BEHIND ME
HOW DARE YOU!
