Love’s Inspiration
It’s in the afterglow...
Love comes along when we least expect it--
In the twinkle of an eye
A mysterious glance
A smile that disarms
A look that changes our attutude
and much of things yet to be.
It teaches without demanding
Soothes away fears
Caresses with a warmth that dismantles
and clarifies the confusion in our minds.
We feel it when it pierces our heart
with a tenderness that we understand perfectly.
What is it? Some may ask…
It’s known only by those who have found a permanent connection
with humanity
Who embrace and protect its possibilities
And above all else
Who offer it freely
But who also keep it in abundant reserve
To find us when we are receptive to it.
It simmers and glows in the darkness
And awakens an inquiring mind
While reducing ignorance to an ember.
It surrounds without demanding
While it asks nothing from us
but an open mind
a receptive heart
and the humility to give it away
Once we have accepted it;
while keeping enough of it active
to find our way forward on demand.
I greatly respect those poets, such as yourself, who have the courage and depth of experience to wordsmith emotional and intellectual principles of truly "living" life fully, not just taking up room to exist. This poem of yours (saved into my Ed Archives)takes a position alongside the many articulate and insightful essays and other poems I've saved of yours. This line, in particular, says volumes. "It’s known only by those who have found a permanent connection with humanity."
It's a wonderful feeling to know one finds solace and peace in "being Love." You have that quality. Namaste, dear friend. Keep your words of wisdom coming.
