My Prayer For Me

This is just a small prayer that I wrote for myself some time ago.
Steve.

Don’t let me mope around,

And wish things were better than they are,

Mistakes I’ve made are passed now,

Done and dusted long and far,

Allow the friends that love me,

To love me as I am,

For I am nothing special,

Just an ordinary man,

Sometimes I make decisions,

I wish I had not made,

Allow me the gift of learning,

From mistakes like this I pray,

Allow me the understanding,

Of another persons choice,

Let me have the patients,

To listen to their voice,

As they explain the reasons,

They’ve hurt me, or I’ve hurt them,

And allow me sympathy enough,

Not to do the same again,

Let all who come to know me,

See exactly what I am,

No scholar, saint or hero,

Just an ordinary man,

A man with faults and failings,

Like everybody else,

A man who sometimes thinks too much,

Perhaps about himself,

Allow me the strength that’s needed,

To admit when I am wrong,

But when I'm right to stand my ground,

And show I can be strong,

But most of all please grant that I,

Remember who I am

From now until the day I die,

Am just an ordinary man,

Sorry Steve,I don't agree that you are ordinary but your poem/ prayer and what you ask for in the prayer is so beautiful and humble that I do also wish and hope that you do always see yourself that way as I believe it is your outlook on life from how you see yourself that makes your poetry so unique, your vantage point is rare ,you have crystal-clear vision of the world and the people in it but you express your view with a wonderful imagination (very few others have your imagination ,Dickens was one,and Henry Lawson another)I only wish I had a gift one tenth as wonderful as your gift of writing poetry and inventing story-lines for your poems..It is not ordinary in any way but I love that you think it is.

For "ordinary," this is extraordinary! Well done, and I'll agree with you in prayer that this is answered. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Ah, it's one thing to be an ordinary man, quite another to be ordinary.
