Your story poem is so personal that it's hard to respond. I fully believe that opposites attract and there must've been some of that in this relationship that stirred such passion.
I am more in favor of rhyming poetry, but there are those who would praise your choice of prose. We all wish to find love like you describe. Precious.

It is best to test the waters carefully and date without falling in love, if possible. One may be infatuated with "the sound of a voice," without really listening to what is being said. Any small aggravation during the dating scene, will probably grow with time. But there is that angst that comes from being rejected when one feels they have found, "the one." Nothing is forever. Something young lovers make the mistake of thinking.

There's a risk when we open up our heart. Love makes us vulnerable, but when true love is found, it's worth the risk. Don't give up on love.

True Love - It's what we work for all of our lives!
Fake Love - It's what we try to avoid like the plague!
Deep Love - What we hope to accomplish as time moves on.
Trusting Love - What all the money in the world cannot buy!
I recall the saying there is too many fish in the sea.
But the blessing is when we get a catch just right for you and
I get a catch just right for me.
I look at you and I see beauty and read kindness in your poems.
You are a winner! You just need to find another winner like you.

When you wrote about, “one day your search will be over,” I imagined that it would be over when you die. On the other hand the body of your poem lets me believe that someone will come to your rescue if you only look long enough. Let's hope that it is while you still have your youth.

“Spoil the rod and spare the child.” From what I gather from reading, your mother was a strict disciplinarian. That's unfortunate, because usually, at some point, in the teenage years, it backfires when the child breaks free and acts out until they find level ground again.

Wow! Great poetic expression about the feelings of deception! I think it happens to all of us. Usually it occurs when we are young and open and it has a way of hardening our hearts. Still, there are good people in this world but they are becoming as rare as precious gems.

That little bundle of joy is a two edged sword that cuts at our values as the population of the earth reaches the point where we will have to decide who stays and who doesn't. Perhaps the child unwanted by its parents, should not come into the world, unaffected by religious or other opinion. And perhaps, like me, when I become a burden to everyone, should be allowed to check out early to make room for billions to come.
