 Intriguing Women (Book) - 3/3/2016 6:11:54 AM
I'm intrigued by this book. How a man can write about women, and do it in fiction, is really beyond me. But then, you are an exceptional writer, and perhaps, have a keen sense of understanding people in general to allow you to attempt to get into the minds of the distaff side. I commend you for the attempt and hope that you don't fail. ;-) I've been fortunate to get to know several Indian women. They were all highly educated and motivated. They seemed to be fully in charge of their men and their households. Perhaps this is because of the long history of matriarchy in your country. On the contrary, I have found the women of Pakistan to be much more submissive and, while also seeking higher education, not so ambitious. Ron
Marriages are Made in India (Book) - 10/5/2013 8:46:51 AM
This is an outstanding short story collection available in all popular ebook formats from Apple, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. I am an American who found these stories transported me to another world with humor and insight, which is precisely why I like to read fiction.

Just what I would expect from a small Indian town with nosy neighbors. I am curious, is IIT the Illinois Institute of Technology? or Indian Institute of Technology? My high school friend went to IIT in Chicago and his bachelor's degree there served him well. Ron

Home (Short Story) - 8/30/2013 5:38:52 AM
That's really a short story. From what I gather, after a long time of dysfunction, people get in a rut and call it normal or “home.” Some find it difficult, even impossible, to get on the right track. A lot to think about. Ron

INTRIGUING WOMEN (Article) - 9/11/2015 9:22:33 AM
You are very brave to write stories about women. So I commend you for your bravery without reading a single story. For the few Indian women that I've known, I found them all to be both highly intelligent and uniquely different. But I couldn't begin to tell stories about any of them. that includes women of the Western world as well. Thanks for sharing… Ron

Chetan Bhagat (Article) - 9/4/2015 4:55:53 AM
You have described Chetan Bhagat very well as the methods by which he has become successful as a writer. I have noticed that American writers like Stephen King, John Grisham, and several others through getting their novels turned into movies where the public who doesn't read this to see what they have written. As far as love stories go, you are right about keeping it simple and straightforward. I recall Eric Siegel, a Harvard English professor, who wanted to illustrate to his classes how to write a love story, so he wrote A Love Story about what might have happened to young people at Harvard and it became a bestseller and a movie that won awards. Ron

Marriage (Article) - 8/27/2015 7:03:28 AM
It's good to see you posting again. It is my understanding that most marriages in India, until recently, were arranged. However, two of my friends from India met and fell in love with their spouses in college. One has had a long married life and the other divorced after both got their masters degree. Each had the same, very high IQ with ambition that led to different lifestyles. I agree with Eva about the points being debatable. In my mother's case, she became pregnant at 17 and was forced to marry my father as a result. Raising me and my twin brother, she was unable to go to college. My father became a truck driver, a Teamster union member, and well-paid. My mother had to work to help pay for expenses for a growing family and always held low-paying menial jobs like cleaning lady, factory worker, and waitress even though she is very intelligent, writes well, is very well organized, and kept the family together despite of many years of fighting and financial problems largely caused by my father's foolhardy schemes and spending. When they retired in 1982, my mother's entire lifetime earnings were only equal my father's earnings that year. She worked just as hard, if not harder, the entire time. They stayed married until he died and were married 62 years. In today's environment they would have been divorced in their 20s. My younger brothers have each been divorced twice and now married to a 3rd woman. Marriage does indeed, weaken both partners, because it creates codependency. Ron

Marriage (Article) - 8/27/2015 12:54:38 AM
While the meaning of marriage may have changed in modern times, each of your valid points are debatable--one of them being that marriage is an avoided institution. One of the many positive changes I see is that as women became more educated, they were no longer dependent on their husbands, so did not have to knuckle under.

The Literary Author and Language Acquisition (Article) - 7/12/2014 10:45:47 AM
I can only speak from my point of view, but your words here makes very good sense. Especially when you state that creativity comes from being away from social interaction that tends to eliminate creativity in favor of whatever the group is into at the time. I never consciously acquired a vocabulary and wasn't well read for and went to college. I purposely avoided the dictionary, trying hard to spell words correctly based on phonetics and other tricks like spelling conscience as the co-joining of con and science. I have acquired much of my vocabulary from reading, not from listening to others. I have often been told by my readers that they, "need a dictionary," to read my work. I find that rather strange because I try very hard to make sure that I used rather simple language and define terms that might be misunderstood. I truly believe that a writer with a very limited vocabulary can be very successful because many readers do not have a large vocabularies and find reading those authors entertaining. Ron

The Creative Personality (Article) - 7/8/2014 12:16:51 PM
Creativity is most appreciated when it enlightens and/or captivates the reader. Creativity that doesn't communicate anything to readers is just noise. I guess it's like the survival of the fittest. Sometimes creativity works and grows in stature, sometimes it is misunderstood and dies from neglect. Much food for thought. Ron

Why Older People are Weaker (Article) - 7/7/2014 9:49:42 AM
Interesting concept. I thought it was because they wear out like almost everything. ;-) It's probably a good thing that we decline in later years, because quite frankly, younger generations are quite fed up with our control of everything and want a chance at the steering wheel of life. If we were immortal, Genghis Khan would probably still be running things and raping our wives. Now that's a fun thought. Ron

Why Shakespeare? (Article) - 4/24/2014 7:37:31 AM
While I have visited Shakespeare many times and seen some of his plays portrayed, I have not the fervored passion for him that many do. Still, like you have discussed, our literature and language have been altered by his presence. My primary memory of Shakespeare is the drama in his characters when they make great pronouncements like, "To be or not to be…" Ron

After the Second Novel is Written (Article) - 4/20/2014 5:27:28 PM
Thanks for your heart felt advice. They do come in very handy. In India we have the advantage of numbers. How well we tap them is the issue very much like marketing any other product in India. I understand there are many book festivals happening in small cities as well other than the Jaipur Festival and those held in the Metros. Attending these festivals and getting connected to make your voice known is I believe another of the tactics that we should hang on to! Since your short stories are Indian based ,your variety of writing could be lapped up by the girl next door kind of youngsters aw well. I am working towards publishing . Let me see how I go about it. Like Ron said I too do it more for my satisfaction but I believe every product has a audience, how you tap them is the skill. I will keep you posted of the positives as well as the negative elements. JK Roseline

After the Second Novel is Written (Article) - 4/20/2014 9:30:49 AM
I'm working on my fourth and still not seeing any modicum of success except a lot of readership from my "free" stuff. Since I don't depend on writing to keep me alive, my anxiety level about this is quite low. I write because I want to write, and have found that people that read what I write seem to like it. That is reward enough until my retirement runs out and I will get anxious about sales to try to sustain me. Regardless what I said above, your advice is very good. Since I am on my own website that gets searches quite easily and is open without a password and user name, I don't do Twitter and Facebook. Probably to my regret later. Ron

Run-on-rhyme (Article) - 4/18/2014 7:15:38 AM
I really love that poem of yours and you are spot on with what you have described. Modernists think of expression as being chaotic, like the world, and therefore, enlightened. But you are right, because the use of rhyme (and sometimes repetition) is as old as spoken expression, found in all the older texts in many languages. Have you noticed that most hit songs have both rhyme and repetition at their core? I have noticed that some poets that write abstract, nihilistic stylish, almost nonsense phrases, are lauded, given poet laureate status, and have huge followings. But, will their poetry endure? I started writing free verse in high school and into college. I have had no formal teaching or training in poetry. At some point, I rejected free verse for rhythm and rhyme. Two of my poems are being taught in schools and one has been purchased by the educational testing service to be used in the SAT workbook. That kind of recognition is priceless. Ron

Writing the Other Gender in Fiction (Article) - 3/7/2014 8:07:11 AM
You are absolutely right. In order for a writer to write full characters into novels, the writer must have some insight into the genders he is writing about. Character study is one thing that a writer absolutely needs, in order to portray realistic characters. I find myself having great difficulty writing from the viewpoint of a woman. But I still have to and do my best. Ron

Writing the Other Gender in Fiction (Article) - 3/7/2014 3:40:15 AM
A very interesting article which I entirely agree with. One of the best examples I can think of where this works perfectly is Thomas Hardy's characterisation of Tess...in Tess of The D'Urbervilles...I think he succeeds brilliantly here... Diana...

Women's Fiction, Chick Lit, etc. (Article) - 2/28/2014 8:06:48 AM
You are very brave to write about this subject because it will come under great scrutiny by women. Great literature as always come from women as well as men. Offhand I'm thinking of Little Women, A Little House on the Prairie, and that great novel, Gone with the Wind. In the nonfiction work, Women Are from Venus, Men Are from Mars, the author points out the psychological differences between the two and why they don't seem to understand each other very well. Because of their nurturing makeup, women have more empathy toward others and understanding of the "little things" in life, while men tend to be oblivious of them, giving them little importance. Chick Lit is written for and by women and not necessarily something a man would even want to read. Still, like any genre, it has its niche readership. I don't like romance novels because they are like watching pornography where the same act is played over and over again using the same structure with slight changes in scenery. Yet romance novels sell very well… So does pulp fiction, poor writing filled with vulgarity and the dregs of life. Ron

Wendy Doniger, Arundhati Roy, Penguin Books India and General Confusion (Article) - 2/23/2014 8:12:07 AM
Very informative. I had not known of the problem. It's an old story, political flower trying to censor literary excellence. And you are right, the new world order in publishing is confusing everything. In the end I think it'll all be good and most censorship will be left up to public taste rather than political action. The trite and disgusting will disappear of its own weight. Challenging religion will take longer, but religions have carefully shaped their history and literature in a way that is easily digested by the masses without question. Ron

Sex and Fiction (Article) - 2/19/2014 7:57:18 AM
It's interesting that your UK publisher asked you to "sprinkle sex" into your novel, The Tailor's Needle. I have included sex in all of my novels because sex is a natural part (and as Freud concluded in his study, a very powerful part) of life. To leave sex out of a story is to be untrue to nature. I had one reader reject one of my books because as he said, "I don't like the sex!" Maybe that's why he has had trouble maintaining his own relationships. I tested my novels by having my mother read them first. She didn't object to any of the sex in the novels and no one has singled those scenes out except the guy I just mentioned. I always enjoy reading sexual scenes in novels. Every author here should heed your advice. Ron

Realizations (Poetry) - 5/11/2015 5:52:59 AM
Yes, when we are young and have idols that we wish to be like, success seems to be quite easy to attain. However, as we age, experience failure, and become comfortable without success, it becomes less important. However, based on the critical acclaim that you have received from your first novel, I think it is enough to last a lifetime. Don't you agree? Ron

Realizations (Poetry) - 5/11/2015 3:36:11 AM
Passiveness is all well and good until it comes time to take a stand and passiveness rules the day.

Human Progress (Poetry) - 1/14/2015 1:57:00 AM
If we look to those places...it is what we will see. When our spirits are bombarded with all you describe, perhaps looking closer to home, our families and the benign side of life will give us the comfort we seek...It is a beautiful world, and news givers often batter us with all that is negative and horrific....When this happens to me I have a total news break....and seek out all the wonderful stuff that is daily taking place around the world...The human Spirit needs balance.... I hope this New Year is wonderful for you.... Diana...

Human Progress (Poetry) - 1/12/2015 6:40:01 AM
It is a dark time in history, not scientifically speaking but humanly speaking. Well penned.

Human Progress (Poetry) - 12/28/2014 9:16:34 AM
You end with quite a pessimistic tone, but I find the whole poem to be fascinating with the words that you used to describe the milieu we are in. You are right about us always constructing and then deconstructing what we've built. Such seems to be the nature of human existence. Hopefully, we are creating more good than bad. Ron

Road to the Soul (Poetry) - 10/31/2014 3:30:53 PM
So true. Mindfulness, prayer/meditation and the tranquillity of solitude cut the chatter within. 'neath everything there is the silence.

Road to the Soul (Poetry) - 10/31/2014 11:12:11 AM
...it is difficult to focus inward instead of outward...when we are blasted day-by-day with information through all of the different sources of media and our own living the life...my source of happiness is being...quiet...in my meditation...look deep within myself...look inward for problem resolution and the beauty...get the "picture"...find it outward...accepting the present moment and allowing it to be... Thank you Lashmi for sharing your words of wisdom.

Become a Perfect Devil (Poetry) - 10/23/2014 3:24:09 AM
..."it happens daily"...it truly is that a very real evil genius of human mind...turns against life...it is the trap...as you've shown in your poem...that the controlling mind slips into human brain...takes it over...takes over the whole life...creates destructive thoughts...beliefs...ideas...envy...hate...worrying about life instead of living it...It is frightening...too...to know that the word EVIL backwards spells...the LIVE... Thank you Lakshmi for sharing your thoughts provoking intellectually stimulating poem.

Well expressed but life is precious and it does matter. Read this poem from a fellow Author on the Den. Amen my friend: ----------------------------------------------------------------- I interviewed a young man who's mother was just diagnosed with terminal cancer. I felt his pain. This is dedicated to him and his mom. Please send prayers. Thank you. God Bless Hope Leads The Way There are storms we must weather mountains to climb, in this journey called life with no reason nor rhyme. It's fight or flight but when all's said and done, the war keeps raging till the victory's won. Inside our bodies a force resides, that fights for survival in most difficult times. In every soul hope leads the way, no matter the sorrows we face today. Written By Kathy J Parenteau Copyright © 07/30/2014

Lakshmi, Being unappreciated and made to feel unimportant is not good for you. This is a wonderful poem of self expression. I hope things change for you. You deserve it. Love and blessings, Linda

For You I lived (Poetry) - 7/11/2014 6:55:29 PM
A very emotional poem in which these words could speak for many. When you give yourself so selflessly and get nothing in return, you would always feel like you have no one to live for, then you would feel that your life is without a purpose. Do NOT feel worthless!! - I know it's easier to say than done for some people like to make you feel worthless if you let them. You own worth is how much you believe in yourself, and treasure your own value within. Always believe in the good qualities that you have inside yourself and feel proud of who you are. Hugs, Sandie :o)

Unwinding (Poetry) - 7/10/2014 8:09:49 AM
In the end, we all "miss." But there are ways to wind down that are better than others. One is try to remain healthy, because sickness makes "winding down" much more difficult and drawn out. Keeping an open mind helps when old friends and acquaintances are no longer there. If you can't be with the ones you love, love the one you're with. Ron

Unwinding (Poetry) - 7/10/2014 7:31:41 AM
Lakshmi, Excellent poem of a life ending and a person's thoughts as they get older. Well, I'm one of those getting older and I thank God He's allowed me a long life. My Mom died at 39yrs old from a drunk driver. She was crossing the road and he hit her and kept driving. So I cherish every moment of life...it could end in an instant. Thank God I know where I'm going. Love and blessings, Linda

Unwinding (Poetry) - 7/10/2014 5:25:03 AM
Well said in a poetic frame! Keeping so busy that we don't have time to think about getting older keeps us young. Amen my friend.

I like the football game analogy... When you're down to the 2-minute drill And you cram in a life's worth of work and finesse and end up in a blaze of glory as your cross the goal line, or not. Either way, you expend it all, and leave nothing on the field of play.

With the Creator at My Side (Poetry) - 4/26/2014 10:59:45 PM
A priest had told us once not to disturb anyone sleeping. 'Cause in our sleep, we are with God.

With the Creator at My Side (Poetry) - 4/26/2014 4:08:54 PM
we are all the the creator on the side of everyone ...

With the Creator at My Side (Poetry) - 4/25/2014 12:50:23 PM
God's many blessings come in various hues and forms. Well done. Thank you Lakshmi for sharing your great verse.

Moments (Poetry) - 4/24/2014 9:16:16 PM
Oh, sweet nostalgia! Gives me a good feeling.

Moments (Poetry) - 4/22/2014 6:56:50 AM
A life filled with moments that stand out. Refreshingly well done. I could see you in the lines because only your experience could be written this way, even though many experience the same things. Your memory lane is filled with good passage. Ron

The Sea of Humanity (Poetry) - 4/21/2014 4:12:56 PM
4-21-2014 REALLY: Do Look Around You At Of Least Not Your Own World-- ....HUMANITY IS SICK... TRASK..

The Sea of Humanity (Poetry) - 4/21/2014 6:52:13 AM
Yes, we are one humanity on this planet. Yet we find it difficult to think that way has a long history of required loyalty to one entity or another throughout life. It takes a strong person to break those bonds and embrace humanity in all of its forms with brotherhood. Jesus could do that. Gandhi could do that. Martin Luther King could do that. John Lennon did that with his song, Imagine. Why can't we all do that? Ron

The Sea of Humanity (Poetry) - 4/21/2014 2:09:39 AM
May we all live as one, without any discrimination of age, nationality, and religion... Sandie

The Road (Poetry) - 4/19/2014 7:52:33 AM
Gives a mixed feelings of longing to find something and being trapped at the same time on the road with no end except death. Ron

Summer in Allahabad (Poetry) - 4/17/2014 2:02:23 PM
I love the vivid atmosphere you create, recording sights, smells, sensations etc.. The use of alliteration is very effective also...Sears, scars and scares.. I especially like 'mornings are the saviours, with perfuming flowers'..... The aroma of the Bougainvillea trees lingers.. Wonderful! Diana...

Summer in Allahabad (Poetry) - 4/17/2014 9:30:57 AM
It is remarkable that such beauty can thrive in places like this. The bougainvillea is one hardy plant that will die in a heartbeat if caught in a freeze. Ron

Prayer to My Lord (Poetry) - 4/10/2014 3:21:21 AM
Thanks to all of you. It was a moment of dejection that fathered forth this poem. God is kind and never lets the pain remain for long just as he rarely lets everlasting joy reside by us before we are in heaven.

Prayer to My Lord (Poetry) - 4/10/2014 3:05:36 AM
Yes He hears you Lakshmi. Just believe. Mary

Everything is Nothing (Poetry) - 4/2/2014 4:53:52 AM
I go by the standard 'The journey is the thing'..... Best wishes, Diana....

Everything is Nothing (Poetry) - 4/1/2014 1:20:31 PM
It's good to take some time to meditate everyday when you need to weed your mind off all nonsense. Sandie

Everything is Nothing (Poetry) - 4/1/2014 8:03:56 AM
Entropy in operation. Nice reminders. I especially like your take on meditation. Made me laugh. Ron

Everything is Nothing (Poetry) - 4/1/2014 6:56:29 AM
But I just learned today that poetry is the soul singing... and that's something!

Everything is Nothing (Poetry) - 4/1/2014 5:19:21 AM
I so agree with your nothingness in everything but to go on with life we perform the drama of converting the nothingness i nto everything and we move on!! Life has to go on dear friend and lets carry on! With Regards JK Roseline

Highs and Lows (Poetry) - 3/29/2014 2:45:46 PM
You have expressed The Highs And Lows of life real well. That is exactly the way life goes. You got to go through something in order to get something, and each verse express it well. Thanks for the write.

Highs and Lows (Poetry) - 3/25/2014 2:36:28 AM
Absolutely true! Life is a series of 'valleys and mountains' as my Dad used to say... Very insightful piece... Diana...

Highs and Lows (Poetry) - 3/18/2014 8:19:19 AM
I am average height and average weight. I'm glad it ends there.

Highs and Lows (Poetry) - 3/18/2014 7:27:48 AM
So true. Let us hope that the lows come early and the highs stay with us in later life. No one wants to die in despair. Ron

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/14/2014 4:18:04 PM
volatility is one of the main ways the universe functions ... adapt and move on ...

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/14/2014 2:27:41 PM
3-14-2014 There Are NO MIRACLES-- (God) Threw Out That Rope And You As I Either Hang To It Or You Hang Yourselves In The (Lasso) Loop-- As And Most Certainly You MAJORITY Of Humans(So-Called)Most Certainly Done Just That: YOU HANG YOURSELVES IN THE LOOP... Lakshmi You Are Wise Man... TRASK...

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/14/2014 8:16:53 AM
You are absolutely right with this poem describing how we cannot escape the inevitable suffering that comes from realization and growth. We were born in pain and will die in pain. Ron

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/14/2014 8:02:44 AM
In this life, we undergo suffering. Rich and poor alike endure it to some degree. When we put our trust in Jesus Christ instead of ourselves, He gives us strength to endure. Not only that, but He understands our deepest need and suffering. When we turn to Him in repentance and in faith that He is our all-sufficient Savior, He will never leave us or forsake us. Can you surrender yourself into His care as Savior, Lord and Friend? The Bible then says that nothing will separate us from His love. Further, we are to praise Him in everything. In some mysterious way, because He is God, He "inhabits our praises" as the bible says. There is so much to discover when you accept Jesus as your Savior. He may not cure your ills and miseries, but He will change your heart and give you all you need to get through them with hope, knowing in the end you will live with Him forever. With care and prayer, Connie

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/14/2014 3:03:08 AM
I hope not. LOL!!! Then everyone should use birth control. Sandie

We are born to suffer (Poetry) - 3/13/2014 10:51:14 PM
We are born to suffer? I hope not my dear friend. I think we were born to help one another through this mystery called life. The first thought I thought of when I read your poem is how to help you. I am surely no medical expert but I have seen miracles happen. I pray for a miracle in your life to heal you back on the road to good health. Amen!

When the vessel of trust is broken (Poetry) - 3/13/2014 11:47:04 AM
Is that why we want to bust up trusts? ;-) There is wisdom in these words beyond compare. Ron

The Seeds of Time (Poetry) - 3/12/2014 9:11:43 PM
the real trick is keeping them in hand ...

The Seeds of Time (Poetry) - 3/1/2014 5:04:49 PM
Well Said

The Seeds of Time (Poetry) - 3/1/2014 10:26:46 AM
It helps to have luck. With good luck you can claim anything. But for some, without bad luck, they'd have no luck at all. Ron

Inspiration (Poetry) - 2/28/2014 2:58:16 PM
don't look for it and it shall come ...

Inspiration (Poetry) - 2/25/2014 8:07:16 AM
For one who has been so enlightened before, I find the tone here one of resignation. The only thing I can do is encourage you to change venues and try something else for a while. Before you know it, the muse, the energy, and the inspiration will return tenfold. Ron

Prayer to My Lord (Poetry) - 2/9/2014 5:59:30 AM
Although we can petition God in prayer, I myself prefer to praise him at all times. If my God sees fit to help me in my pain then let that be so. I love this form, which is spontaneous and truly heartfelt. Thank you for putting it up Lakshmi. Bob

A Prayer (Poetry) - 2/9/2014 5:54:21 AM
Being a practitioner at times of poetry formed into prayer, I am always glad to find lines that sometimes reflect my own thoughts directed at the Lord. This is beautiful and a pleasure to read Lakshmi. Bob

Waiting (Poetry) - 1/27/2014 12:26:11 PM
I've had some of the best conversations whilst waiting...and bus rides become exciting journeys within, with eyes tightly closed... daydreaming whilst waiting is another favourite pastime... At the end of the day....it can be all a matter of perception.... Diana...

Waiting (Poetry) - 1/27/2014 11:14:43 AM
A lot here to contemplate. Since I can no longer hold a magazine or book, I often just sit, look around the room waiting, and contemplate. If there is someone else in the room who isn't reading or watching a droning TV, I try to strike up a conversation. I find that is the best way to pass waiting time. And, I find talking to strangers both enlightening and pleasant. They say the devil waits for idle minds. I try not to keep mine from becoming idle. Ron

Prayer to My Lord (Poetry) - 1/14/2014 6:32:11 AM
I hope the upliftment that is required for these words is forthcoming....in a way that truly helps... Diana

Prayer to My Lord (Poetry) - 1/13/2014 10:07:29 AM
This seems uncharacteristic of you. Leaves me confused… Ron

I fell upon bad days (Poetry) - 1/11/2014 9:23:17 AM
So uplifting and courageous...! Best wishes, Diana...

I fell upon bad days (Poetry) - 1/8/2014 12:29:57 PM
A wonderful, philosophical viewpoint that I hope many more will read and comment on. This shows your brilliant way with the written word. Ron

We met as though strangers (Poetry) - 12/29/2013 8:11:58 PM
So true. Wonderfully expressed. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. HAPPY NEW YEAR !! xOx Phyllis xOx PS: Sorry for being out-of-touch so long. I have a two-volume set of excuses, if you are interested. ;_ :) :_

To My Boy (Poetry) - 12/22/2013 3:48:14 AM
A VERY SAD WORK. AS THE MOTHER OF AN ILLEGITIMATE SON, I KNOW THAT WHAT A BOY REALLY NEEDS MOST, MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, IS THE OPEN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND LOVE OF HIS FATHER. OF COURSE, IF HE MUST, HE WILL KEEP SILENT BUT THERE IS THAT REJECTED PART OF HIM THAT 'DIES'... IN THE SILENCE. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

We met as though strangers (Poetry) - 12/16/2013 11:02:00 AM
Good insight into humanity. Unfortunately, religions that require monogamy do not understand that people and times change and an outlet must be provided for them to move on. Ron

You want to be a Don: A Song (Poetry) - 12/1/2013 8:51:13 AM
I fight with fright, aka a metal ball bat and a 357 magnum. But that's just me. :)

You want to be a Don: A Song (Poetry) - 11/30/2013 11:43:23 AM
Uncharacteristic of you, but still powerful and penetrating. Fighting your way to the top of the heap of garbage that we are. Ron

I cannot ever live without you: (A Song) (Poetry) - 11/29/2013 6:35:16 AM
Some mighty oaths professed in this love song of great loyalty. Ron

The Days of Early Childhood: A Song (Poetry) - 11/27/2013 1:11:51 PM
We can never return to those happy days of childhood. Nor can we re-create them even though we may become childish in our old age. Ron

The Days of Early Childhood: A Song (Poetry) - 11/26/2013 9:53:00 PM
Nicely expressed sentimental poetic thoughts. If these thoughts are yours please be thankful that you had a nice childhood. I and many others don't recall pleasant thoughts of our youthful years. For some it's abuse either physically or mentally or both. It was both for myself and had it not been for my mother I doubt if I would be alive today. So be thankful my friend for the blessings of a good childhood. Amen.

Weddings (Poetry) - 11/25/2013 11:22:50 AM
We invest too much in marriages and not enough in making the relationship strong enough to resist those few minutes that undo everything. Ron

When you feel like boiling over (Poetry) - 11/22/2013 8:29:29 AM
sagacious words.

When you feel like boiling over (Poetry) - 11/21/2013 12:13:03 PM
I enjoyed reading your lovely poem today. It pays to thinks about something nice when you are in a moody mood. (smile) I try to.

When you feel like boiling over (Poetry) - 11/21/2013 10:35:18 AM
Amends to that! Ron

When you feel like boiling over (Poetry) - 11/21/2013 10:19:26 AM
Nice thoughts, Lakshmi. No need to make amends.

India (2) (Poetry) - 11/18/2013 9:52:29 AM
I haven't been to India but I have been to surrounding countries and have many Indian friends. I find the many cultures of India quite fascinating although I am not too fond of caste systems wherever they exist. I understand that the Indian government is considering closing the Taj Mahal to tourism because of the continual degradation by traffic and air pollution. Since the Taj Mahal is one of the greatest draws for Indian tourism, that would be a shame. It would also be a shame if one of the world's wonders would crumble into dust or ruin like I saw of Ramses II's temple in Memphis. It is a two edge sword: both presenting and preserving such wonders to the world. Ron Ron

India (Poetry) - 11/12/2013 9:01:02 AM
When I traveled to Pakistan and Bangladesh after befriending many fellow students from India and other countries in the vicinity like Sri Lanka, I did not travel with a survival kit for I was simply interested in the culture… The many cultures of the region. I stayed with families and toured with them, not with a regimented tour group, but with the people on the land in their way of traveling and eating marvelous strange new foods. I came away stronger with a better understanding of the world I live in and the people who live in it. Everyone should have such experiences. Unfortunately, so many have a stereotyped view that they carry with them and only travel in tour groups designed to isolate them from the people and the reality of the places they visit. I can thank my Indian friends and long talks with my roommate, Behram Randelia for helping me open that eye. Ron

India (Poetry) - 11/12/2013 8:09:07 AM
Nicely said, I like the way you have composed it. roseline

India (Poetry) - 11/12/2013 7:17:41 AM
Nice poem. I had a wild fling with a lady from Goa She said it was over but I wanted moa Next time around I intend to go sloa. :)

A Journey (Poetry) - 11/10/2013 9:05:13 AM
Wonderful… Let's all go on a journey together. I know life will be better because we will understand it much more for our journeying. Ron

Dark Bloody Spots (Poetry) - 11/8/2013 9:06:28 AM
I'm not sure that time would allow one to forget dark, dirty blood spots. Ron

Everything is but toys (A Song) (Poetry) - 11/5/2013 9:07:52 AM
Yes, much of what we do is just playing around. What is serious Is our relationships with our loved ones. Ron

For Eternity (Poetry) - 11/4/2013 8:50:00 AM
A very pleasant and wonderful refrain. Unfortunately, for most it's an ideal rather than a reality. I guess at why there's so much divorce. We tend to promise fidelity and then not practice it. Ron

For Eternity (Poetry) - 11/4/2013 4:07:31 AM
Well done, Lakshmi. In my mind I can hear the music to your words.

I am for you (Song) (Poetry) - 11/3/2013 10:31:15 AM
I'm not sure what "stonely" is, but this song has all the characteristics of the lovelorn broken heart lament. Good fodder for a award-winning performance. Ron

Celebrations (Poetry) - 11/2/2013 5:50:23 PM
To be honest, this poem does not rise up to your standards. It's a bit choppy, disconnected, and does not leave me with a sense of wonder or awe or any other emotion. I think you rushed it. A little polish, a little pzazz, and you're back in the game.

Celebrations (Poetry) - 11/1/2013 8:17:00 AM
I think that celebrations were created by the priests and despots to rally the poor people to their cause by holding out minuscule offerings of pleasure. I read somewhere that it the Hindu religion has the most celebrations. I don't know if it's true, but the United States, regardless of its separation of church and state, has embraced several religious holidays for us to celebrate. Ron

The Sun (Poetry) - 10/30/2013 7:26:15 AM
A wonderful personification of the sun and questions raised. The poem came as a surprise because I am writing a short story right now about the power of the sun on earth. A bit of a Halloween story that may get finished a bit late. Ron

A Romantic Tale (Poetry) - 10/29/2013 2:54:08 PM
A mystery indeed. Makes me want to go through the wall, whatever it is, and find her.

A Romantic Tale (Poetry) - 10/29/2013 1:36:33 PM
A gripping tale that would make a great television mystery. You could play either the detective or the person of interest.

Those Voices (Poetry) - 10/26/2013 7:09:15 AM
Most interesting piece well penned and enjoyable reading Peace be with you William

Manimals (Poetry) - 10/22/2013 1:15:12 PM
As Thoreau observed, watching ants. Ron

Manimals (Poetry) - 10/22/2013 7:18:47 AM
I think you have answered your own question. A great distillation of life.

You Gave Me Life (Poetry) - 10/19/2013 3:34:40 AM
Thanks Caleb, that is very encouraging.

You Gave Me Life (Poetry) - 10/19/2013 1:55:53 AM
As always you have the ability to dig inside with depth of feeling. Well done.

Thorny Nettles (Poetry) - 10/18/2013 8:28:55 AM
Hasn't it always been so? Ron

Bloom and Doom (Poetry) - 10/13/2013 1:24:27 AM
thought provoking read

Bloom and Doom (Poetry) - 10/12/2013 11:35:41 AM
Sure got plenty of that right here in the good old USA. Ron

Trees (Poetry) - 10/11/2013 10:53:04 AM
Love the way you describe our life blood… the trees. Ron

Trees (Poetry) - 10/11/2013 12:21:29 AM
Be kind to the trees. They have feelings...and souls! Impressive write.

The World is such a difficult place (Poetry) - 10/5/2013 9:59:09 PM
Thanks Ronald and thanks John. Was in the mood of writing a song with a sad content. You know there are phases when it seems difficult to sound brighter.

The World is such a difficult place (Poetry) - 10/5/2013 9:54:45 PM
Poetic expressions of truth. Life does have it's ups and downs. I guess it's like that so we can know the difference. Peace, Love and Bountiful Blessings, John Michael Domino

The World is such a difficult place (Poetry) - 10/5/2013 11:45:38 AM
Wisely written… in that I trust. Ron

Being Political (Poetry) - 9/28/2013 8:56:20 PM
The consumate politician is a charmer and a master of political double talk. Such are the type who may find themselves making decisions that may influence the course of nations. Sometimes one wonders about the integrity of such men and/or women. But the politics of the personal, of the what-can-you-do-for-me-types, is what we may encounter from day to day in this world. The boot licker, the kisser of backsides, the common little political wanna-be's who inhabit the world wherever you go. You've written a very thoughtful piece her Lakshmi. It makes you think. Bob

Being Political (Poetry) - 9/26/2013 10:51:47 AM
But sometimes we get pricked and bleed. Ron

When love tapers off (Poetry) - 9/19/2013 1:05:50 PM
"Where does love go after it tapers off?" is one of the most profound questions of all time. Very creative.

When love tapers off (Poetry) - 9/19/2013 11:13:02 AM
Falling out of love does not have to be painful. It can be a gradual process, mutually conceived and received. Ron

What the Black Sky Said (Poetry) - 9/18/2013 1:43:31 PM
I have the feeling that the power you're speaking of is coal-fired electricity that is both beneficial and bad. I'm not sure what that last line means, but it sure reads “dictatorial” to me. Ron

What the Black Sky Said (Poetry) - 9/18/2013 5:50:16 AM
These are the actions, the tales, the limitations of man, not those of God. They make for interesting reading, cautionary portrayals, but they also are the stuff of false beliefs and high anxieties. I share your concerns about man's weaknesses, but to me black skies say only "rain."

Where are those days? (Poetry) - 9/15/2013 9:58:26 AM
They'll never come again. Ron

All Gone (Poetry) - 9/14/2013 11:56:36 AM
This one has disappointment written all over it. Ron

Rape (Poetry) - 9/11/2013 5:28:45 PM
It is not my intention to say that a raped woman can do nothing in life. She can and should defeat everyone else due to that circumstance. The purpose of literature, however, is to show things as they sometimes turn out to be. In the Third World there is a greater need to make people aware of the plight of such a person so that they refrain from doing that. Dickens painted a picture of the plight of children in his times not to defeat their interests but to awaken people to the harm they were doing by not treating them well.

The Ulysses in Me (Poetry) - 9/11/2013 8:10:59 AM
What a wonderful plan you've laid out for yourself. Ron

Our Newspapers (Poetry) - 9/11/2013 3:05:05 AM
It's the same way here. Arrogant suck-ups.

Where do they go? (Poetry) - 9/10/2013 12:21:02 PM
Well expressed! Special soul seeking poetic thoughts abound here! One thing is for sure - we will all die sometime. All my Christian friends would like to go to Paradise. So would I. one of my closest friends had a near death experience and he says Heaven is more real than life here on earth. I believe him! Read the book, "Heaven is For Real" by Todd Burpo. He is a young kid who died and went to Heaven and he told his dad about relatives that he met in Heaven that he NEVER knew existed. His dad was shocked - but little kids don't lie. God bless you and let me know about your experiences as well, John Michael Domino

A Clear Night's Sky (Poetry) - 9/9/2013 7:42:21 AM
The view of the night sky can make anyone feel small. In life is not certain or kind. But it's the only life we have and therefore, we should live it well. And not suffer the consequences. Ron

A Clear Night's Sky (Poetry) - 9/9/2013 7:12:29 AM
"In a world neither kind nor free." That just about sums up my philosophy of life. I used to think I was free here in America. I don't anymore. Enjoyed your poem, as I usually do. You have a lot going on inside that head of yours.

Kindness (Poetry) - 9/9/2013 3:22:36 AM
I like this. There is a lot of truth within the framework of the poem. Case in point, "Men could feel good with that description when women were not men."

When you were here (Poetry) - 9/7/2013 9:46:20 AM
Mothers are wonderful and the way they understand us. I think she would've loved this poem when she was alive. Ron

When you were here (Poetry) - 9/7/2013 3:25:20 AM
My thoughts of my (adopted)mother isn't so loving.

My Heart is Bursting with Pain (Poetry) - 9/6/2013 8:15:27 AM
Send this one to a country singer. It's got the sound of that country heartache.

My Heart is Bursting with Pain (Poetry) - 9/3/2013 7:57:07 AM
Nice poem. Better song. “Whether it be hill, plain or [plane?]” Ron

My Heart is Bursting with Pain (Poetry) - 9/2/2013 6:46:40 AM
Nice poem.

The I in Me (Poetry) - 8/31/2013 12:36:01 PM
Freud would love it! Let the battle begin. Ron

The I in Me (Poetry) - 8/31/2013 4:13:38 AM
Much depth within this seven line, structured poem. Yes indeed, the I in us sometimes is not such a plus.

The Soul Needs to Soar (Poetry) - 8/29/2013 1:10:05 PM
Sometimes poetic expression is the best cure for a good pressure release in a heated moment. Your poetic expression speaks volumes! Well done!

The Soul Needs to Soar (Poetry) - 8/29/2013 7:43:54 AM
It is very dangerous to write from a woman's point of view. On the other hand, I like your gems like, “tragedy queen” and that love is, “neither here nor there.” A good one. Ron

The Soul Needs to Soar (Poetry) - 8/29/2013 5:27:27 AM
An excellent piece of prose. Yes, we can' keep things hidden inside because if we do it degrades us and eventually it will explode and crush those around it.

The University Now (Poetry) - 8/27/2013 7:53:19 AM
I realize you are writing about a particular university in India, but your words ring true about institutions in the United States as well. The ivory tower is rapidly giving way to the corporate model of efficient jobs producing training schools. The University of Phoenix, using its advertising power on a job starved nation, is a good example of the erosion of higher learning here. I would like to remind Jerry that the ideology that he follows replaces scientific and critical analysis with faith and belief, something that is innately alien to higher learning. True higher learning, difficult when so much money for scholarship is earmarked by the provider with certain agendas, is apolitical and therefore, cannot be called either liberal or conservative. Conservatives often hate facts like you are clearly stating about the university you are writing about, because they go against their beliefs. Ron

The University Now (Poetry) - 8/27/2013 3:46:12 AM
Sound a lot like what is going on in this country, with one exception. The universities and colleges in America are hell-bent on desecrating the American ideal with teaching its students it far left agenda into the ugly world of liberalism,

Floods in Allahabad (Poetry) - 8/26/2013 9:30:39 AM
I love the biting satire and the contrasts like comparing the Chinese army to locusts, panicking to picnicking, and fear and joy running into each other. I gather that the floods are a rather normal occurrence in the monsoon. A time when the overflowing rivers replenish the fertile soil and add water to the thirsty land. Humans living in the area have, for thousands of years, have both welcomed and dreaded these annual events. Ron

Floods in Allahabad (Poetry) - 8/26/2013 9:27:01 AM
Nature is, sometimes, a cruel and harsh entity.

Rough Rocks (Poetry) - 8/24/2013 9:39:00 AM
That's life. It happens every day. There are ways we can change it, but like Gandhi starving, it will take time. Ron

Rough Rocks (Poetry) - 8/24/2013 8:25:38 AM
