This book had so, so much potential. It is a collection of short, interconnected stories revolving around soldiers that survived a war together. Wow, does that sound interesting!
For starters, though, I thought "interconnected" actually meant they were fairly interconnected. Apparently it doesn't. The only way I saw the stories connected in the least was through the two-page prologue that said the main characters fought in the Vietnamese War together.
Another thing that was a little off is the tagline "Stories of Love and Brotherhood." If by "love" the author meant lust, sex, adultery, and abuse, then it was a fine tagline. Otherwise, I wouldn't call what happened in a few of the stories "love."
Something About Ann did show how cultures and even horrific pasts don't have to define who you are.
I am very sad that I didn't like this book, and am sorry to say I do not recommend it.

I have noted your accomplishments and congratulate you on them as well as this latest book.
I see that you use your experience in Vietnam to write your stories and novels. We need more writers with that kind of background. Unlike Ann, my partner of 25 years didn't see any combat but did try to escape six times. A story in itself.
