Picture Calendar (Poetry) - 1/1/2025 8:41:51 PM
I wrote this poem after seeing the seasonal changes on the hill in front of my house. Korea has four distinct seasons. The changes occur due to significant changes in climate, but these seasonal changes, which occur almost every three months, make me feel like I am looking at a picture calendar that changes once every three months. The picture calendar is different in that it changes one page every season, just like I change a calendar every month. However, the changes are gradual and completely change without me noticing.

A Bulged Baby Whale (Poetry) - 6/17/2023 11:14:05 AM
Very unique but frightfully true. Baby whales usually live off their mother's milk for a very long time before they can digest either fish or plankton, depending upon their species. I understand that plastic in the ocean has deteriorated to the point where it is in microform and me get into a female whale's milk. Otherwise, while going about feeding the way that whales do, I can see where small bits of plastic can get into a young whale's body. Ron

Garbage in the sea. This is a big problem. My poem "Silvery Debris" also reflects the same issue. Thank you fir sharing! Sandie

The love like a stone (Poetry) - 3/19/2023 8:49:34 AM
What a gorgeous poem, capturing the emotion of new love.

The love like a stone (Poetry) - 11/22/2022 12:09:12 PM
This is beautiful! Love open ones eyes and ears for the beauty that surround us.

The love like a stone (Poetry) - 11/22/2022 9:34:09 AM
I'm glad that stone was not heavy, but made a delightful splash. While I recall the feeling of spotting my first love, it was not like someone as poetic as you. You created lines of similes for what was happening to that abounded in the natural world around you as though you were in some kind of a poetic trance. Perhaps that's why I was not successful with my first love, I just wasn't poetic enough so that she felt it, too. Ron

Very romantic! My type of poetry! I love this! Sandie

The love like a stone (Poetry) - 11/22/2022 3:23:19 AM
i love your piece as well as the imagery you have depicted in it. in my mind, i can hear the birds singing and even almost tasting the white flesh of the mackerel. the last line perfectly summed it all up.

The love like a stone (Poetry) - 11/22/2022 2:32:14 AM
I recently published my 22nd collection of poetry. The title of the collection is <Love Song 100>. The works are numbered in a single-titled series about love. This poem is not a work published in that collection, but I tried to describe in various aspects the ecstatic and excited feelings when I met my first love, which I experienced and everyone experiences. The love in this poem may be a man or woman, but it may also be Christ, the source of love that we humans have met. The impression of meeting Christ is more than meeting the love of the opposite sex, but it can also be seen as expressing that emotion as love in a relationship between a man and a woman. Since the love between God and human beings is sensuous and rational, it can be said that it was described as the love of human relationships so that readers can easily perceive it through their senses.

Cornus flower Image (Poetry) - 4/21/2021 8:23:50 AM
I agree. Why struggle with obtuse intellectualizing or poetizing language when nature provides us with a clear and present view of our natural world as though it were writteniit were written greatest of poets/songwriters. Time to observe and then be very clear. Ron

Cornus flower Image (Poetry) - 4/20/2021 4:54:16 AM
What a lovely poem. So tranquil and inspiring. A joy to read.

Godong-gol Grandpa (Poetry) - 4/6/2021 12:27:02 PM
I don't like to play favorites, but I have lived in both countries. My heart is with Korea. Touching poem.

Godong-gol Grandpa (Poetry) - 4/6/2021 8:22:51 AM
A horrifying example of what tyranny can do to an individual. Clearly rendered. But I don't understand your second footnote. Ron

Suddenly Surprising (Poetry) - 3/14/2021 11:49:50 AM
That certainly is a good sign. Not many aging people can say that of their eyes. I am approaching 80 but find that my myopia is a relatively insignificant impairment. Although over the years I was given annoying bifocals, I never used those prescriptions and now, not driving or needing glasses for distant viewing, my myopia serves me well so that I do not need reading glasses in the house at all. However, FinePrint is getting a little harder to read. Ron

Suddenly Surprising (Poetry) - 3/13/2021 1:27:23 AM
Edward Phillips, thank you for your friendly interest in my poems. I remember your name for your last review at my poem. I would like to talk for God¡¯s glory to you as my brother in Christ about how to be brightened my eyesights. Meanwhile, I have been writing while working as a teacher in a public school .preaching the gospel to students, colleagues and parents When I was ordained as a pastor, the Lord gave me two holy gift. One was to preach the Word, the other was the ability to heal and cast out demons .as a weapon necessary for preaching the Word. After ordinated, I have worked as a educational pastor in Sunday school of church, working in common school. I have seen God save many lives through preaching and that gift. After early retirement from school, I preached on the subway for 10 years by distributing 150,000 copies of the booklets of 32 pages I picked from my ebangelism books which is well known to Korean christians. However, at the last of subway preaching, God permitted me to cast life-saving net covering the world through my literature. At that time, God promised me to repair eyesight and do not lose my energy as He did Moses.. So I believe that the Lord will fulfill that promise, and I am trying to do my best. Thank you.

Suddenly Surprising (Poetry) - 3/12/2021 7:40:22 AM
Such a beautiful soliloquy of love and gratitude! Yes, we take our eyesight for granted--until we can't. If this is in praise of cataract surgery, I join with you in giving high praise for the advances in this impactful procedure. I'm also thankful that Medicare paid for the surgery. In return, I also occasionally offer a poem to give thanks for the gift of eyesight and other body functions.

Snow being piled up Night (Poetry) - 3/11/2021 2:48:43 AM
Thank you for your interest in my poetry. In particular, thank you for being happy that I was healed from tuberculosis. Even if you read the original Korean work aloud, it will not be easy to feel the taste of the rhythm because the pronunciation is unfamiliar. Thank you for complimenting my efforts and for not spared the praise that the work is 'very characteristics'. I have an ebook of poetry collection translated in English. But i do not know how to upload it. And now I am going to publish an other poetry collection translated by myself in English. This poetry collection consists of fifty poems including this poem. thank you.

Snow being piled up Night (Poetry) - 3/8/2021 9:26:00 AM
From what you wrote, I gather that you recovered from pneumonia in that high mountain sanctuary. I'm glad you recovered and are able beautiful translations between Korean and English. I realize that translation to English loses the rhythm and rhyme, but the original thought of the text comes through. I tried reading your text of the poem in Korean but failed to achieve the expected rhythm and rhyme. Forgive me, but I will accept your expert opinion that this poem is famous for those very characteristics. Ron

Blinds and Deafs Unordinary (Poetry) - 2/9/2021 8:24:09 PM
Edward Phillips, thank you for your review on my poem above. By the way, i want to find the place where i can write my review on your poem 'I'm hooked' And so, I write that here. I think this poem show us various characters on a person as like taking picture out on various angles by a camera.

Blinds and Deafs Unordinary (Poetry) - 2/4/2021 11:27:06 AM
Your poem carries the thoughts of a very wise person. Long ago I was in Korea for just over one year. I remember the decency, the humor, and the respect of the Korean people.

Corona party

Corona party

 (Poetry) - 1/23/2021 9:31:48 AM

While your poem is quite derogatory, it is true. And we must face the truth would like it or not. Youth have always pushed the limits of reason, and for some reason, a rotten apple in a group of similar apples, will infect the whole bunch. Even among the brightest in colleges and universities, there are perverse groups that often stretch the limits of sanity by risking greatly their lives in some kind of bonding ritual that they carry with them often to the highest realms of industry and politics, like the Skull and Bones Society. So Corona parties are just the latest of these death-defying pranks concocted or bonding. In this case, having heard that only the elderly and sick are affected greatly in die, these young people are willing to take the chance against chance that they will get the virus but recover quickly. Ron

flowery path (Poetry) - 7/27/2020 8:57:43 AM
While flowers certainly make me smile at their wonder and beauty. And with a breeze, flowers certainly dance in a way that is light and wonderful. But I have no reason to laugh either at flowers and with them. To me it is a human emotion and not one of flowers. Perhaps I am missing something that you are not. Never laughing with or at flowers. Ron

Corona19 (Poetry) - 7/25/2020 2:42:55 AM
According to an article from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, there is absolutely no evidence that the Covid-19 virus originated in a laboratory anywhere. Calling it the "Chinese" virus for political purposes is obscene.

Corona19 (Poetry) - 7/18/2020 11:57:32 AM
I believe you are saying that bad leaders will lead badly during this outbreak of Coronavirus. I agree with that. Unfortunately, in the United States, the leaders have so far managed not to get the virus, while the very poor and crowded together by job, ethnicity and circumstance, are the ones that are taking the brunt of this terrible onus. You are right, compared to the universe, we are as small as a virus. Even smaller. Let us hope that we do not become a virus on universe, going to other planets and infecting them with our stupid ideals. Ron

Corona19 (Poetry) - 7/18/2020 5:49:49 AM
It was a mutated and planned virus that was meant to destroy other countries' economies as China wants to be the world's leader, even at the expense of sacrificing its own people. Many scientists who worked in the lab in China cannot be reached by friends and relatives. They were murdered for the sake of secrecy, but the world already knows. Sandie

Looking at flowers (Poetry) - 5/28/2018 9:46:51 PM
John Herlihy, thank you for leaving your precious impression that you read my poem. Life belongs to God the Creator, and I think that when we raise life, we experience holy joy because we are involved in the realm of life, that is, the realm of God.

Looking at flowers (Poetry) - 4/13/2018 8:24:54 PM
"Sacred pleasure" indeed, as in the pleasure that I receive from reading your simple, yet meaningful, poem.

In the deep despair (Poetry) - 1/19/2017 12:27:30 AM
In the 21st century poverty should be a thing of the past, but our capitalist system with its winners and losers is going to be hard to change, the Have's are quite happy, thank you very much!

Merry Christmas (Poetry) - 12/19/2016 8:58:12 AM
It is Christmas time that makes the tale of two Koreas so sad. Let us hope that there is a breakthrough like what happened in Cuba recently before too long. Ron

An Anemone Sister (Poetry) - 12/7/2016 10:26:56 AM
The contrast between North Korea and South Korea is immense, like the difference between Cubans living in Miami and those living in Havana. Last year I read a story about the smuggling of music into the north and the trouble it caused when discovered. The resulting need to avoid prison by trying to escape into China across the Yalu with tragic results. Those stories touched my heart greatly. I just posted a story with North Korea as the aggressor against United States. In spite of the great loss in the United States, the story results in a wonderful change in North Korea. Ron

April, Life Festival Month (Poetry) - 12/1/2016 9:59:59 AM
Beautifully expressed. You made April come alive in December. Makes me wonder why you didn't wait until April to post the poem. Ron
