There are many names for them: the huddled masses, the meek, sheeple, silent majority, etc. The ones that let others do the thinking for them, yet claim they are thinking for themselves when they repeat force-fed dogma in response to almost anything they face. Your poem describes this segment of society very well.
But there are those few that are not affected by authority and they are the ones that make this world move forward because they foment change and will not bow down to the status quo.

I believe that death is really, "falling over the edge of time." My biggest fear at night is falling off the bed. That new tile floor I installed is hard and cold.

It isn't necessarily so. A person who is mentally disturbed may perceive a different "reality" but it is not real in the sense that it is proven by other means than observation or thought. Those that think that reality is what they think or what they shape in their minds, are deceived by their inability to realize that our senses, combined with our thought processes are very inconsistent and deceptive and shouldn't be used to define, "reality."
Other means, like the scientific method, work very well. I am appalled at the number of people who have been falsely accused or judged and sent to prison or executed by people who made eyewitness accounts that were based on their "reality," rather than the truth. DNA evaluation has started to reverse many of these false accusations.
