Outside the Pocket (Short Story) - 7/28/2020 12:30:16 PM
So well written that the reader is immersed in the character, understanding his emotions and thought processes making the story flow to a suspenseful though tragic ending. Looking forward to your next book. Karen D. Nichols

For a man who, in this story, "doesn't write well," you could have fooled me. The way this story is masterfully written, one would think that it was a true. Reading it pulled me in like few stories do. So I have to give kudos to your writing ability. Only one typo was a first. While I never hung out in pool halls, I've played a few games of eight ball in bars either for fun or for a beer. I would always ask for a soft drink or nothing if I won because I never drank beer. There is something watching a woman play pool. For me, it's also about form and whether or not she has a body worth watching when she plays. Thank you for reminding about women's subtle cues. You reminded me of the night I had a few graduating students with their MBAs over for a dinner party. When they all left except one, I was quite tired and simply told her, "I'm going to bed." She followed and then stayed for a couple of months. Frankly, I couldn't get into her like she was into me. Just had to be honest. She said she had a job lined up with Salomon Brothers in NYC. I might be rich by now if I had married her and gone along for the ride. Ron

Transport yourself to another era and appreciate when Chivalry was not dead. The story rolls on like a film short that draws in the reader. Michael's use of language helps set the scene in the distant past. The ending illustrates how women, though the weaker sex, show strength in subtle ways.

Kept me wondering until the end as it builds anticipation. Outstanding!

Great story! I actually felt almost as guilty as Nancy, just by reading it. Certainly loved the ending, I will assume that the voucher was in the box, after all I am a sucker for happy endings. I think that Frank knew, Life's a rock and all that. B.

I like the ending. I can't imagine good church people playing a prank on a man who just lost his wife. That's scary. I was worried that Gerome and his brother would be mightily disappointed at all Nancy seemed to care about was Frank. I certainly hope that the voucher was in the box. Certainly does read like a true story. All pranks aren't as good-natured as they seem. Ron

Loss of signal, sir (Short Story) - 11/12/2016 7:07:04 AM
"My money's on that we'll find hell first" eh. Scripture does refer to it as the 'outer darkness's', (always found that description haunting) and I'm sure that it's far removed from the 'Third Heaven.' The imagery in this piece plays well. Enjoyed. Also... congrats on your Halloween entry win. Your story was great. rlc

A nice little drama between hardened souls that just happens to be on a spacecraft going nowhere. As a "hard" science fiction writer, I found your playing fast and loose with things like gravity, lawlessness and comparing the galaxy with the solar system as the same thing a bit annoying. But the drama was good like so many fantasy based sci-fi stuff. Ron

A beautiful engaging story with an interesting twist at the end. I could see it coming as soon as I read about Sophia's waning health and not wanting to eat. The wind was a little dramatic but it could've been easily part of feverish delusion. Ron
