I really enjoyed reading the story of Lazarus, Mary and Martha from their point of view. It is a very creative way to tell the story f these important biblical characters. The book was a bit slow at times though and I felt a bit detached from the characters from time to time. Their emotions didn't quite feel real. All in all, it was a good read.

I think the most important thing is that meals were simple. Many of the foods that we think of as normal and eat today had not been conceived. And, all the food was obtained locally except for occasional exotics that may have been available through the caravan trade. From what you describe, a hearty and healthy fare that would be a slimming diet for us today.
From what I've read, 2000 years ago, the region around Jerusalem was much greener than today with more rainfall. Lebanon was famous for its cedar trees that were mostly cut to build ships. You didn't mention what the fire source was. If they burned wood, it would greatly impact any trees in the area and probably contribute to it becoming a desert.

Some good advice. I've certainly seen some very bad covers. I've also seen some very good covers that were simple in design by the author that did the job very well.
I've created almost all of my covers and only used a professional when my software became obsolete. But I have graphic design training and experience and done some publishing of newsletters. I rarely use any of my artwork except something that I can do with graphic tools so that it looks professional.
My experience with the cover artist that I used was that he was unwilling to provide alternatives and only allowed two drafts before the final edition. I have been able to come up with several cover ideas for every one of my covers. Unfortunately, while I like my trilogy cover theme, the title gets lost in the American flag. I tried to make it bigger, but its length prohibits that.
Your cover looks very good and very professional. I hope it sells well. I'm only interested in the contents and not in the cover… That's where the meat of the matter is.
