Two Thousand Pieces (Poetry) - 12/15/2020 9:03:07 AM
A good bit of humor wrapped up in this one. It is been so long I have no idea what a 2000 piece puzzle is like. Most of the ones that I've seen fit on a card table. But there were some that fit on a dining room table where people didn't eat until the puzzle was over. Thanks for the laugh. Ron

now you got my attention-- as a young lad I used to go barefoot to bring in the cows for milking and always used a fresh drop to warm my feet-- it works great for that and i'm sure its a cure for athletes foot - gotta be right?

Thanks for the idea. I think I'll write another wannabe 007 book… Tomorrow Never Dies. Clever idea. It's good to keep our humor up when were faced with such serious consequences as 20% of those catching this catchy bug having "serious," life-threatening responses. Ron

Covid-19 (Poetry) - 3/23/2020 6:28:42 AM
Cancel tomorrow, that sounds like it might be a good thing.

Ha! Your poem makes me think of the sign, "Free Pizza tomorrow!" Nice!

Hospital Attire (Poetry) - 11/10/2019 11:29:57 AM
Very, both true, and funny at the same time. A real keeper. That hospital gown certainly seems to be a butt of disagreement. But we all come in our birthday suits and should be proud of them. We should just, "grin and bare it all." I think the whole problem is that we tend to let ourselves go so that we are embarrassed by our own bodies. Don't blame that on the gown. Confess and let it all hang out. My physical condition has made me pretty exposed most of the time. Not at all embarrassed over it anymore. Ron

Thanks to all my reviewers. Ed, Unfortunately undies were not an option, John D, "Bun cover" (cute) covers are a great idea but I doubt medicare would "Cover" the costs Michael, Too funny as always your way with words is amazing' John H. Thanks, for the laugh your comment brought Jerry, Me too

Gawd! But I hate those damn things.

And on that note, here is my crack of a smile. No doubt often thought but rarely said.

As soon as you put one on, you know the end is in sight.

Hospital Attire (Poetry) - 11/7/2019 12:02:07 AM
Yes. I agree with Ed, it's too funny but also TMI. I bet they could charge an extra 5-10 for a special bun cover. But what would we have to talk about after the visit was over? Loved the humor! John Michael

Golf at its worst (Poetry) - 11/6/2019 11:56:47 PM
Sounds like when I used to play with my buds in the US Air Force. To keep things moving, we made up a game called "Seven-up"you see. After 7 strokes, we pick the ball up and venture on! Some never bothered to pick the ball out of the cow pie, like me! Too funny! JMD

Hospital Attire (Poetry) - 11/6/2019 6:21:03 PM
This is truly funny, and actually TMI, I don't want to think of how others look like in their hospital gowns, as I always wear my undies without track marks hopefully...-e-

In a cow pie? What pasture were you playing on?

Misfit (Poetry) - 10/4/2018 9:36:34 AM
Not very well stacked, that's for sure! "What do men know about bras anyway," Howard Hughes Ron

Misfit (Poetry) - 10/3/2018 11:39:34 AM
I hate bras! I wish I didn't have to wear them. I think all women think the same way. Bras are expensive! The good ones have fake boobs. The soft ones you wear them like nothing, might as well not wear them at all. Save money and time. Sandie

Misfit (Poetry) - 10/3/2018 10:30:17 AM
Maybe she should've tried them on backwards. When all else fails, there's always the halter top.

Where do they come from? (Poetry) - 10/10/2017 11:20:26 AM
Where we immigrants to this glorious continent get the idea that we want neat, monocolor landscapes like precisely cut, weedless and blemishless geometric designs that we call, "lawns," is beyond my understanding. Nature's the best landscaper. Laying down a blanket of cover from its leaves to be either used to protect gentle sprouts coming up in the spring or to provide fertilizer for upcoming new generations of plants. Michael is right. Mulched them. Let the wind blow them where it will. And marvel in the spring of what has been protected and can be shared in the spring. Ron

Where do they come from? (Poetry) - 10/10/2017 5:34:50 AM
Most of the leaves that end up in my yard come from my neighbor's giant oak, and when the west wind blows, I get even more of those leaves. I however, do not rake leaves. I mulch them. Enjoyed your poem, and say hello to Jack Frost for me to.

Well penned, my friend. As for the NFL coaches, they just made their own hell, dug their own graves and now it's hard to get out from under it. The answer is so simple, they BROKE their OWN RULES! In the NFL rulebook, it says each player will STAND during the national anthem, period. The consequences are suspension from playing, fine, and/or disciplinary action. No action equals NO DISCIPLINE. If one player can break a rule another player can arguably break another, and another, etc. Yes, everyone is watching, including little kids. So if a player goes out of bounds they can protest that they are on the other side of the line and try to make it a "personal issue" with the rule. It can get crazy very easily! Now add to the fact NOT standing for our anthem is also considered as disrespect for our flag, our country, and our Veterans and you just created a firestorm. I am a Veteran who served 30 years but kneeling for our flag does not seem to be showing disrespect by itself. However, when the team is all standing because it's a rule, that's a whole different matter. It's just wrong because the ball game is enjoyed because of official rules. To go against them is taking discipline out and inviting chaos in. That's what they got! It's NUTS!

Where do they come from? (Poetry) - 10/9/2017 10:19:34 PM
A very well expressed piece of poetry! There are folks like myself who would pay big bucks to see changing of the aspen leaves. It also would be nice to see more colors other than green in Florida. So enjoy the colors that fall from Heaven, my friend. LOL

Ex Pro football fan (Poetry) - 10/7/2017 8:39:16 AM
I agree with Ron, Those players might make big bucks, but their stage setting is a viable place where they can draw attention to the problems in our society. Besides, even when they took a knee before the anthem , they still got booed. So where is the right place to protest, and be seen for their cause. And this was something that Trump had no business injecting himself into, After all, he was the one who criticized Obama for when weighed in on the Redskins name.

Jesse Owens proudly stood during the National Anthem after winning Olympic gold metals in Germany in 1936. Yet when he returned to America, he still had to go through the backdoor to get into a restaurant and use a colors only restroom. President Franklin Roosevelt didn't invite him to the White House, he only invited the white athletes. The Germans treated Jesse Owens better than President Roosevelt did. It took 20 years before he received any presidential acknowledgment and 80 years before his family was invited to the White House. Some would say it is the actions of America that is a disgrace. Standing or kneeling during the National Anthem doesn't define a person, it's how he or she lives their life that defines a person.

Ex Pro football fan (Poetry) - 10/5/2017 3:25:52 PM
Did you know the author of the National Anthem was a slave owner, and thought blacks was intellectually and morally inferior to whites and wanted all free blacks sent back to Africa. "Land of the free", didn't apply to slaves. "Home of the brave", what's brave about enslaving another human being, that act is as low as you can go. The author of the National Anthem didn't even abide by the words he wrote.

Ex Pro football fan (Poetry) - 10/5/2017 10:09:10 AM
I agree. And I certainly don't believe you are on 'the wrong side of history'. You've taken your stand. Personally I believe a real financial crisis is in the offing, not only for the NFL, but also for Hollywood. Expect cowards to come out of the woodwork to comment on this using phony names. A stouthearted write here.... r

In recent wars the black and poor have bore a disproportionate part of the fighting on the ground. And when they return, they find that in spite of their service they are still treated disproportionately by the police and employers and, as a result have a disproportionate amount of their population in prison. Often for minor offenses they could not defend themselves from being unable to hire a lawyer. A disproportionate number of our NFL football players come from the black and poor. Their careers are short and violent. Recent studies show that concussions are a major problem after their careers as warriors playing mighty games for the behalf of city dwellers backing their cities. Fans. As someone who never has gone to a NFL football game and never spent any money on a ticket or fan paraphernalia. I also don't own a flag or outwardly show my patriotic allegiance to our great country as something superior over other countries in the world. Fortunately, the Constitution's First Amendment gives the citizenry the right to petition and protest. The thoughtful way that the players have banded together to protest longtime injustice to a particular race of people is testimony to fairness of United States as a country. Your secession as a fan of the NFL is similar to the slaveholding South's session from United States before the Civil War. And we all know how that turned out. My friend and fellow citizen. You are on the wrong side of history. Ron

You are one handsome devil, even at your age! And I'd like to know your technique when it comes to romancing 70-year-olds. It could come in handy when I get your age… Very funny, but wishful, thinking. In my case, it's the other way around. Ron

The Mothers Day card (Poetry) - 5/5/2017 5:13:48 AM
A poet should never have to buy a card with another poet's rhymes on it. It always helps to have a good looking butt if you're going to go mooning around. Ron

The Mothers Day card (Poetry) - 5/4/2017 7:20:39 AM
Good one. Personally, I've never quite understood why a wife should get a Mother's Day card from her husband. She's not his mother. And ditto for Father's Day. Now having said that, I do get my wife something for Mother's Day, Just to keep on her good side so I don't get my ass smacked when I moon her.

Gather ye Rosebuds (Poetry) - 4/28/2017 11:28:12 PM
A most tender write that speaks volumes of the sensitivity of the man who cultivated the affection. I'm sorry it didn't go as it ought to have gone, a rose by any other name would still be a rose, I pray the spring will bring lots of rose buds, thanks for sharing this tender moment xo

Yes, we have to be careful how we present our gifts. Sometimes, they are rejected for the wrong reasons. Cool write. Ron

My question is--where were when she was getting into bed? Next time, be just a little bit more romantic, and go to bed with her instead of later. You're as bad as me! Connie

Gather ye Rosebuds (Poetry) - 4/8/2017 7:32:17 AM
I used to get my wife flowers all the time, and she would always cry. But then after awhile, the tears stopped, and she began to expect those flowers. So I quit bringing her flowers.but hey, the thought's still there, and that's what counts. Right? Loved your tale.

Gather ye Rosebuds (Poetry) - 4/8/2017 6:24:13 AM
The thought was there...and a very romantic one.... However she may not have had her glasses on? :-) Better luck next time...! Diana....

Well they say it is the intent that matters, what's in the heart always comes out to be seen sooner or later. Just a good thing you removed the thorns fist or your intent would have surely been mistaken, LOL! Dan
