It was only recently when I finally got cable that I got back to watching NASCAR in HD every weekend. I've been rooting for Matt Kenseth, but it looks like his age is working against his performance the last couple years.
It occurs to me that the racing season for the big boys is really hectic since they tear the skin off those fake "stock" foreign (Toyota) and domestic cars almost every week. The show is spectacular, but thankfully, less injury prone even with all the wrecks. Unlike the old days when somebody was killed every week or so.
I didn't read the whole excerpt and probably won't read the book because I usually watch the movie and as a writer, don't have much time to read. From what I did read, you have captured the young crowd quite well and certainly know how to weave your many characters into the plot. That's something I haven't done, keeping my characters to a minimum in my stories and books.
I would like to read how you handle races here. I suppose it is pretty play-by-play, similar to the sports casts I watch. I am grateful for playback and slow-motion because things happen so fast at near 200 miles an hour, re-watching what happened is a blessing.
