To Ronald Hull- I can’t respond too specifically without giving away the plot. However, I can say that I was careful to title the book The End of America’s War in Afghanistan. Not necessarily the end of fighting in Afghanistan- but definitely the end of America’s involvement.
It’s worth remembering that conflict in Afghanistan has a long history prior to America’s intervention. Nobody could guarantee that fighting wouldn’t continue after America left- no matter who was trying to rule from Kabul at that point.

From the brief description, I see no "end" to hostilities, but an escalation. But I'm sure you have come up with some unique way to have a final ending to what has been a very long and protracted frustration with bringing Afghanistan back into the realm of democratic nations. You seem to be quite courageous in tackling some of the most pressing potential war issues we are faced with. Hopefully, any good ideas you propose, may be picked up by the powers that be and implemented.

It takes real insight to write a novel about the near future in a place like the Middle East. One can only hope that some of the novel plays out so that it will become important as a precursor to history. One thing seems certain. There will be more violent clashes. Just today, hostilities between India and Pakistan heated up with Pakistan shooting down to Indian fighter jets. Fortunately the pilots survived. Another thing that sure seems to be that the US will be involved. And, although you don't show it, perhaps Israel.
