"Thirty minutes on each sentence!" That doesn't sound like "going with the flow." I find that when I write sentences quickly and then look at them later, sometimes I'm amazed at what I wrote… The intrinsic value and possible philosophic value that I'm sharing with others. You say you are "opening up your mind" with activity that is almost anal in his focusing on each word.
As I read your excerpt I did find that your sentences made a lot of sense as far as the way most people go through life and don't take time to use the cliché, "stop and smell the roses." My current condition has, over time, giving me much time alone to think, meditate if you will, on my life and thoughts, so maybe I have been "open-minded," more than others, but I have found that my reading and my travel and exploration has given me more than almost anything else I've done.
Finally, I am reading the memoir of an astronaut/physician. He has crammed more in one life than 10 people, and enjoyed every minute of it. Not only that, he has not just, contemplated his naval, but with five Shuttle missions, and seven spacewalks building and repairing essential equipment in space, as well as creating many innovations right here on earth, he has advanced our toward moving off the planet to a solar society.
I do agree that if everyone took your route, the world population would drop because there would be fewer babies born and there probably wouldn't be enough food and water to go around with everybody contemplating rather than working. Unfortunately, the eventual external catastrophe that will befall the earth someday will come. And we, as a civilization would not have left like we need to do, soon, if we are going to survive the next mass extinction.
