It certainly looks like you have fought the good fight, and continue to do so. I've noticed that there are several organizations now dedicated to "saving and enhancing" Social Security. Since the damage was done largely prior to 2000, it looks like the problem, like so many others, Al Gore's warning about global warming, the deception that started the Iraqi war, and others are being conveniently swept under the rug by conservatives who continue to push for the same old programs that are making the ultrarich even richer.
The only thing that surprised me was that you borrowed money for that $4000 ad that you put in the New Republic. As a professor (I think) living in sunny Florida where most people can't retire, I would think that you would have enough money to not have to borrow for these promotional efforts. But, from what I read, it also appears that your self-publishing cost much more than it should. I could certainly recommend a self publisher that would be more fair in pricing. I'm not sure if it was just a bad publisher or if it was conservative pressure that removed your book from the seller bookshelves.
In any event, I believe the word you're spreading is out and may eventually become part of government reform. It is obvious from this political season that the conservative viewpoint is being challenged in many ways and literally coming apart with a candidate that doesn't follow the rules set by the so-called leaders of the conservative cause. The public is finally waking up to the fraud of their agenda.

While hard to read because of the formatting problem that can be easily addressed by either turning off the AD editor before pasting or using a lower level Microsoft Word format before pasting, a very good article about the necessity of love.
I've always learned that in order to be loving, one must love oneself. That is the first prerogative. Once we love ourselves, it's easy to love others.

Some good advice and great quotes about how to live productively. I try to do something every day to make a better future for myself. When the opportunity comes up, in the present, to help someone, I drop everything and help them. By doing that, I do not impede my progress toward a better future, but enhance it. When I think about how much I've been helped in the past, I've got a long way to go to pay back all that I've received.

Once again, great advice. My twin brother lost his wife of 25 years in a freak accident two months ago. He has settled her affairs and is getting on with his life, socially mostly with her extended family. I admire his ability to get over his grief and move on. We have a few people here who write about the same grief for years on end. I wonder how much they are missing out in life by not getting over their loss.

Mentors and role models are very important for youthful development. Some even provide a way "not" to behave. When people emulate serial killers and terrorists, we often wonder why it happened. Perhaps we should not publicize those kinds of behavior as much as we do. In order to get box office, the movies seem to cater to more violent and cruel antiheroes with each passing year. Yet beautiful sex between consenting parties is banned as something awful to behold.
