Private Dancer (Short Story) - 11/25/2009 7:59:25 AM
I went to a strip club once a long time ago. A friend took me there for my birthday. I sensed insecurity and loneliness in the dancers. And the men looked like drones—shelling out wads of cash to women who they thought actually cared for them. A good-looking woman danced close to me later that night and breathed into my nose her hypnotic breath. Then she asked me if I wanted a private dance. I told he no and handed what little cash I had left to another customer and told him to go with her if he wanted. She gave me an evil look as they both walked to her private chamber of lust and lies. I have never gone another club since. After all; temptation resisted is the truest measure of one’s character, don’t you think?

Its important when you have a difficult and sensitive matter to confront that you do so without the force. Browbeating, direct confrontation, accusations, never win over anyone to your way of thinking. Whereas, simple shows of love never fail.

Without the use of words she let me know
That the pain I felt, the struggle ahead, was not mine alone.
How does one verbalize the comfort and courage
That came with such a connection…

There are many painful moments in life. Pain experienced so deeply until it is difficult to verbalize its depth. It is easier to write about it. And, that pain becomes tolerable when it is shared. Another reason why no sister should ever walk alone. What do you think?
