Excellent article! I agree that our personal growth should be aimed at becoming a better person. If we experience personal growth because of material things or status symbols that we want to achieve, we may lose our focus if we do not obtain those things. It should be about personal growth to become a better neighbor, friend, family member, or reaching out to the community and doing charity work. Helping strangers is the best way to develop. If we try to have the "biggest and the best", we sometimes will lose focus, and in the process of searching for the "biggest and the best", we will lose valuable friendships, or we may even begin to associate with people who are not a good match for us. Keeping genuine and kind people around us as we personally develop is important. We all need to "get out of our comfort zone" and avoid routines. We can all become set in our ways, which will then prevent us from making changes, or from taking risks. We need to expand our circle of friends and our interests.
