Depth Charges part l (Short Story) - 8/11/2014 6:42:45 PM
This all narrative intrusion that reads like a school report: "What I Did Last Summer" kind of stuff. It could equally be a story treatment or pitch. The problem is there's no illusion of reality to sink into because there's no P.O.V writing. Point Of View writing kicks in when we are inside the head of a character, touching those thoughts, using their senses to understand. To make this a real story, we need to have a mental image of the main character, the setting: what does the inside of the sub actually look like? What are the smells, the sounds? P.O.V. writing is about "showing" a story, not "telling" about it. This reads more like a data dump, or the back-story research a writer does before writing. I think this might be a good story once the reader is given a character to become intimately bonded to. I look forward to seeing what might become of this.

Who we our (Poetry) - 2/27/2016 10:40:44 AM
I really think you should use "are" instead of "our" in the title and also in the body of your poem.

Star Trek Classic-Passing into Eternity (Poetry) - 2/4/2016 8:58:26 AM
Man I love this, I still have all original 79 episodes I recorded on VHS tape in the 70's, they still play, ( if i can remember where i stored the vhs player) Loved "Yesterday IS Tomorrow" and the one also where they all grew old even with the sorry low makeup budget to work with back then. I know every scene by heart you mentioned each one in. Ole cap'n still kicking though. Dan

Taking Care (Poetry) - 2/4/2016 8:52:42 AM
Richard, I guess if worse comes to worse I figure I can be an extra for the Walking Dead tv show, maybe get paid for that hard earnded look at least, ha. Dan

Taking Care (Poetry) - 2/4/2016 8:35:00 AM
Great advice. I should've taken it early and my teeth would've been better. Fortunately, I've only lost two. But have a lot of metal filling all the holes. Ron

Star Trek Classic-Passing into Eternity (Poetry) - 10/25/2015 8:51:36 AM
I was fortunate to meet Nichelle Nichols, who was the first African-American woman to play a ... Lieutenant Uhura, at a 100 Year Starship meeting a couple of years ago. With each passing year that famous cast is disappearing… But their timeless stories will carry on. Ron

Two step on Solid Ground (Poetry) - 8/18/2015 6:38:45 AM
When we lose our willingness to explore and settle for keeping our feet on the ground, those problems you mention will become worse. It is only through imagination and vision like Galileo who turned the Catholic Church upside down by declaring that the Earth was not the center of the universe and Arthur C Clarke who proposed the space elevator and stationary satellites that we now depend upon for so much communication and life-saving like never before. Those stationary satellites allow us to reveal the very problems you wrote about and solve them more quickly. A space elevator would do away with rockets (not jet airplanes) that cost a tremendous amount to lift a pound to orbit (not to the moon). Ron

Two step on Solid Ground (Poetry) - 8/18/2015 4:06:25 AM
Solidly written. I'm with you. Get out the lawn chairs and we can look up instead of looking around. Thanks Chris

Well-said! Sandie

Never stop Lovig (Poetry) - 7/18/2015 4:51:01 PM
Richard, It would be wonderful if family could live together in harmony. At some point children must leave and make their own life. I remember very fondly my growing up years. I am the oldest of eight and we all played and fought but we loved each other and we all knew it. Love and blessings, Linda

Never stop Lovig (Poetry) - 7/14/2015 3:13:05 PM
I wouldn't call it a poem either, Connie . . .

Never stop Lovig (Poetry) - 7/14/2015 12:57:36 PM
I wouldn't call this a poem, Richard, but it's an interesting point of view, a little old-fashioned, but to me, that's a good thing to be! Connie

Stop the Violence (Poetry) - 5/1/2015 9:53:53 PM
There is really no violence. It's just a bunch of losers what lie, cheat and steal from the hood whenever they can find an excuse to get way with it. The silent majority are good citizens of all colors. Sadly good folks don't make the news. The morons are in the MEDIA! Amen!

Stop the Violence (Poetry) - 4/30/2015 10:46:52 AM
As Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela knew, violence never got us anywhere. While there is great frustration for some, we need to educate ourselves on nonviolent ways to resolve our problems. Strong police forces, mighty armies, and arming ourselves, is not the solution. Ron

Goodbye Farewell and Prosper Us All (Poetry) - 3/26/2015 12:53:37 PM
so sad..great writing

Goodbye Farewell and Prosper Us All (Poetry) - 3/6/2015 8:01:31 AM
We must remember that Mr. Spock was a character written into a TV series and then later written into movies. While the writers and Nimoy's fine acting made the character seem real, he was not. People seem to be drawn by these fictional characters because they are shaped to be less complex as our fellow humans. Therefore we can identify with them and often do. Hence, your poem to Nimoy as is character more so than himself. Ron

Goodbye Farewell and Prosper Us All (Poetry) - 3/6/2015 7:36:19 AM
First we lost Gene, then Bones and Scotty. Now Spock has joined them too. May they all be safe in their journey to the stars. Michael D.

Internet Take Over (Poetry) - 1/19/2015 7:45:01 AM
An interesting perspective. It's easy to become addictive to certain technologies that are so easy to use like a cell phone and computer. I do not have the choice to leave the house every day, or I certainly would. I have found that being alone and not interacting with others can be a very good thing for ideation and creativity. For example, you are extremely creative, probably because of your isolation. If you were highly social, your creativity would be very much less than it is. All these technologies that we are so taken up by are here to stay with more to come. We can use them for learning or trivial social interaction. It is our choice. We can go out and breathe the fresh air and enjoy nature without the benefit of these devices at all. It's great to have choice. It's freedom, not oppression. It depends upon how you look at. Ron

Internet Take Over (Poetry) - 1/18/2015 5:25:58 PM
Just figuring that out , are ya...? I well know the feeling as I go out for a walk or bike ride anymore so rarely on top of the fact that is freaking cold out...LOL, -e-

Stop (Poetry) - 1/16/2015 7:40:56 AM
Bullying and child abuse are wrong and should be stopped as soon as possible. Your inner spirit is the best protector against abuse. It certainly doesn't hurt to be a "mean son of a bitch," when confronted by an abuser. Ron

Inspire Me Dear Paris (Poetry) - 1/14/2015 8:58:23 AM
Men and women of good will are all Parisians now.

Inspire Me Dear Paris (Poetry) - 1/12/2015 8:53:12 AM
We must never give up and never give in. That's what I get from this poem about your concern for Paris after the terrible terrorist attacks. Ron

Never Give In (Poetry) - 1/10/2015 9:27:03 PM
Excellent advice Richard. Well done indeed!

Never Give In (Poetry) - 1/10/2015 1:16:15 PM
Ed already said that famous line. But you keep keeping on, because that's what it's all about. You are leaving a huge body of work, that when edited, will make its mark someday. Ron

Never Give In (Poetry) - 1/10/2015 9:12:52 AM
I'm with you, Richard. And never let 'em see you sweat! I like your grit.

Jesus vs Santa (Poetry) - 12/20/2014 5:32:29 PM
Well, Santa does not even come close. It's Jesus by a landslide and no one can even hold a candle to his abiding Love. Amen Merry Christmas!

Never any Silver Bells Here (Poetry) - 12/20/2014 3:47:54 AM

You (Poetry) - 11/19/2014 12:29:54 AM
Very insightful words of wisdom. Thank you. Love ya! Jane

O Holy Day (Poetry) - 11/11/2014 10:37:11 AM
Yes, the word holiday comes from religious holy days. Without them, we wouldn't have any time off because even weekends have only one only day. I believe it was labor unions that finally forced the creation of Saturday so that working people could at least have a weekend and Sunday could be taken over by football. ;-) Ron

Turkeys -Gobble me This (Poetry) - 11/3/2014 12:11:28 PM
I think this one is better suited for Halloween than Thanksgiving! Ron

The Cauldron (Poetry) - 10/31/2014 7:46:07 AM

Life Accordingly (Poetry) - 9/27/2014 12:05:21 PM
I like the message you are conveying with this poem… Life is precious and doesn't last forever, so we should pursue life as much as we can, while we can. Ron

Stronger (Poetry) - 6/29/2014 9:02:04 AM
You have to still believe in your country, go to wars to fight for the greater goods... Sandie

Stronger (Poetry) - 6/28/2014 11:16:26 PM
The ideas and beliefs in this poem are stronger than Superman. They were the fiber of our country and some of us still believe in them. We are few. God bless you, God Bless America! John Michael

Thank you for sharing. This is a sad but beautiful poem. God Bless Kathy

Alone (Poetry) - 3/25/2014 8:01:50 AM
Some find being alone quite pleasant. Ron

Alone (Poetry) - 3/25/2014 5:00:01 AM
This is a very heartfelt poem. The definition of "alone" is that: Many are left alone, but are never feeling lonely; and yet, one can be in the company of many, and would still be feeling alone. Your children will be your children all of your life, they will not forget you. They may move out, but they will come back to visit you. I know the feeling well. When they begin to move out on their own you always feel like you're being left behind, but the joy is when you see them coming back to visit you. Always a joy!!! Sandie

Alone (Poetry) - 3/25/2014 2:15:05 AM
It must have took an act of courage and brave mixed emotions to write this poem. I lost one wife to cancer and I sometimes get upset when she comes home late from work because I fear for being left alone again. She brightens the day is like a beam of light. Yes, this guy does not want to be left in the dark ever again. Amen!

Our Blue-Green world we call home might not be for Much Longer (Poetry) - 3/24/2014 10:10:12 AM
Shows a lot of intelligence. We are supposed to be the most intelligent ones. But sometimes, in fact, quite often, we act like dumb heads. Ron

Drugbuster (Poetry) - 3/19/2014 8:08:37 AM
People tend to look for a magic pill that will do what they can do by their own behavior. I take only what is necessary to keep me alive, and no more. But so many fall into the trap of thinking that all their pain and misery can be solved by a pill… Only to find out that it is the pills that is causing more pain and suffering. Ron

Drugbuster (Poetry) - 3/19/2014 6:44:35 AM
Even Christ drank wine, just another drug. At one time dinosaurs were the dominant creatures. Right now it's us, but it's a precarious position. Man could disappear in a heartbeat, and then who knows? It could be the cockroaches that take over the world. Michael D.

Drugbuster (Poetry) - 3/19/2014 3:58:07 AM
Although I don't take any drugs, but I would never say I won't, for when one gets physically sick, like having cancer or other diseases, drugs and pills are what makes them feel better. One can never say to others that one doesn't or won't take any drugs or pills. Sandie

Death is Sad Indeed (Poetry) - 3/13/2014 2:32:04 PM
you idolize fictitious people in life, so it's no incongruity you mourn the same way in death ...

Death is Sad Indeed (Poetry) - 3/13/2014 1:39:56 PM
3-13-2014: Until You Do Die You Will Never Know What Awaits Your Sorry Ass-Pray to Whoever Your God It Is Only Sad Indeed... TRASK...

Death is Sad Indeed (Poetry) - 3/13/2014 1:16:45 PM
You are probably one who feels for others. Some of us has deeper empathy than others, and we can feel other people's sorrows in us. Sandie

Where did Everyone go ? (Poetry) - 3/12/2014 5:42:33 AM
It'svlike an episode of the Twilight Zone where an aircraft disappeared from radar and was taken back in time to the past. This is really a mystery. Sandie

Where did Everyone go ? (Poetry) - 3/11/2014 8:11:54 PM
A nice simple life would be nice. What am doing on this computer? Am I possessed? Wow! Think of 25 years ago before computers and cell phones. Were we better off? I believe we were. Nice thoughts Richard!

Competiting for your Faith is the only Competition there Should Be (Poetry) - 5/20/2013 10:55:56 AM
Competition can be cruel. Cooperation is much better. However, people tend to compare and when they do, competition arises. Ron

Daddy Come Home (Poetry) - 5/15/2013 9:09:16 AM
With four wars as a backdrop, this sort of thing happens all too often. Ron

Grandpa Where are Your Teeth ? (Poetry) - 5/7/2013 8:38:30 AM
I'm not sure about whose teeth ended up in Africa, grandpa's or grannie's. Either way, this is hilariuuuus! Great fun.

Grandpa Where are Your Teeth ? (Poetry) - 5/6/2013 4:46:24 AM
Grandpa, this is quite an amusing write. I hope you saved that dime. There are good things and bad things about getting old. It's time to start saving all your dimes and get some new teeth1 Connie

A Tear (Poetry) - 4/5/2013 4:46:08 PM
Richard, Aplause, Aplause, for this write. Your compassion shows for all the sick people in the world. I write alot of abuse poetry and for the homeless and forlorn, but THIS is wonderful. Now, that is sad. Ron

Remembering When (Poetry) - 11/27/2012 10:07:59 AM
As we age, we tend to forget the bad and romanticize the good in our past. I wasn't particularly fond of any of those shows, preferring Ed Sullivan, Laugh In, Twilight Zone, and Saturday Night Live, Mike Douglas over sitcoms and hero dramas. Just listened to some old radio shows. Those actors put a lot of character in those voices and made our imaginations carry the rest, like reading a good book. The quality of those stories is phenomenal considering what they had for technology. Ron

Sometimes (Poetry) - 11/26/2012 8:42:42 AM
I'll take a gin martini any day. It is sad how the holidays have become so commercial and so expected that many lonely people out there contemplate suicide. Ron

Not just on Christmas Day (Poetry) - 11/23/2012 2:55:50 PM

Other Thanksgiving Offerings (Poetry) - 11/22/2012 9:06:07 AM
Turkey is basically dinosaur, and it tastes like chicken. In spite of all the antibiotics, steroids, and genetically enhanced corn they are stuffed with, turkey meat is probably the most nutritious and healthful meat out there. That's why I'm eating four turkeys this year. I will save money, not get fat, and stay healthy for the rest of my life. It doesn't get any better than that. I don't care if you are worried. I'll just cut your head off and eat you. Actually, just thaw you out and cook you. So you won't have to worry anymore. Yum Yum. Ron

Other Thanksgiving Offerings (Poetry) - 11/21/2012 2:27:25 PM
Just imagine if the indians gave our ancestors a donkey for dinner; then we all would be getting a "piece" of ass for dinner on Thanksgiving...have a good one...e

Survive (Poetry) - 11/5/2012 8:30:26 AM
Survival today is largely tied up in income. While Sandy can take our things, as long as we are not injured and still have work that pays money, we can easily start over and survive––even if it means in another place. However, if we have no money, and/or the work. We fall into what is called the, “safety net,” Of charity and welfare. That is no survival at all. Recovery will take a lot of effort and I hope that we do not build back the same structures to be destroyed again in future storms like we do on the Gulf Coast. Ron

A Tear (Poetry) - 11/1/2009 10:36:14 AM

Believe in Whatever you Feel (Poetry) - 9/29/2009 7:18:44 PM
Yeti nother reason to believe in whatever you feel, Richard...good play on words. The mysterious is easier to believe in than the obvious - man is the destroyer while the Abominable Snowman is feared...go figure...be well, Richard. Warmly, Sage

Where did they All Go too ? (Poetry) - 8/21/2009 6:34:15 PM
Richard, I also wonder why the 'good' shows were taken off the air. Some of the shows today aren't good at all. I wish they would bring back some of those old reruns we used to enjoy and laugh at. Blessings & Peace, ~Linda

Where did they All Go too ? (Poetry) - 8/21/2009 4:56:54 PM

Where did they All Go too ? (Poetry) - 8/21/2009 12:22:47 PM
Richard, Does make you wonder what happened to those old characters. I remember when TV was black and white, three channels (no remote), and rabbit ears with tin foil. This brought back memories.

Thank you Richard, for reminding all your readers whats really important in life. Many blessings, ~Linda

A Tree not Just For Climbing any More (Poetry) - 8/15/2009 6:39:09 PM

Leave Space Alone (Poetry) - 8/15/2009 6:35:42 PM
Richard, There is alot of wisdom in this poem. I've always thought this but could never put it into words as you did. There are children starving here on earth, people wandering the streets homeless, with all the money they are spending on sending people up in space, use it here on earth to help someone. I've always thought those millions of dollars to build all those space rockets could be put to better use. Thank you Richard, for putting into words what I've been thinking for years. Blessings and Huggggs, ~Linda

Being who we were Meant to Be (Poetry) - 8/15/2009 6:31:42 PM

Differences ll-A Long Time Coming (Poetry) - 8/13/2009 5:44:20 PM
Richard, AMEN to this write. NO it shouldn't matter if a person is black, white, in a wheelchair, bedridden, walks with a cane, I see RED when I see the handicapped shunned, or see a disabled person or Vet looked on as 'different'. Thank God in Heaven we will be equal. Outstanding write, Richard. A keeper! Blessings and Peace, ~Linda

Differences ll-A Long Time Coming (Poetry) - 8/12/2009 2:41:40 PM
GOD KNOWS ALL THINGS. SO ONE WONDERS, KNOWING ALL THINGS, WHY DID HE PURPOSELY MAKE US DIFFERENT. WHY AREN'T ALL THE FLOWERS IN THE WORLD ONE COLOR...WHY THE VAST ARRAY OF VIBRANT, LUSHIOUS COLORS THAT BEAUTIFY THE EARTH? COULD IT BE THAT WE, CREATED IN HIS IMAGAGE, WERE CREATED TO DO THE SAME THING?...TO BEAUTIFY THE EARTH AND BE LIVING EXAMPLES OF HIS WONDROUS LOVE FOR ALL MAN KIND? SO WHY ISN'T IT SO?...YOU ASK. WELL...WE'D HAVE TO GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE GARDEN OF EDEN TO UNDERSTAND THAT GOD'S 'PERFECT PLAN' WAS CHANGED BECAUSE OF DISOBEDIENCE. SO HOW DO WE FIX IT? THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT 'GOD IS LOVE'....THEN ONLY HIS LOVE, LIVING INSIDE OF US, CAN FIX IT AND IT HAS TO START WITH EACH INDIVIDUAL. DESPITE THE OBSTACLES, DESPITE THE SNUBS, DESPITE THE OBVIOUS PREJUDICES, EACH PERSON WHO HAS LEARNED THAT WE ARE ALL CHILDREN OF ONE GOD, MUST TAKE THAT REVELATION...THAT LOVE...AND SPREAD IT...BEGINNING AT HOME AND THEN ABROAD. THIS WORKS BELIEVE ME...I AM NOT SOON TO BE 65 AND A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF GOD'S LOVE REACHED OUT TO BE AT THE AGE OF 4 AND I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN IT. I KNOW THAT THERE IS LOVE IN THE WORLD THAT IS BLIND TO THE COLOR OF A PERSON'S SKIN AND I KNOW THAT THIS LOVE EXISTS BECAUSE OF A SIMPLE ACT OF KINDNESS. PLEASE SEE ONE OF HIS INSPIRATIONS ENTITLED 'THE BUS RIDE'. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS WORK THAT SUPPORTS YOUR THEME WELL. GOD BLESS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Life is To Important to Forget (Poetry) - 8/10/2009 10:34:10 AM

For the Sake of All of Us-Stop (Poetry) - 8/5/2009 3:07:21 AM
Humans are not smarter than that. And when one member of the species would just as soon bite off your hand than allow you to feed it, it is difficult to get along. That said, we should be thankful to the leaders of North Korea for doing the right thing. They didn't have too. They could have played the crazy hardball game and just let those two reporters rot.

Luck is only what You make It (Poetry) - 8/5/2009 12:27:17 AM

Life it's a Given (Poetry) - 8/3/2009 7:47:51 PM
Yes, we should always be grateful for each new day that we can wake up and live, even our most painful of days. I always try to remember the things I can still do physically, and not concentrate on the stuff I can't- it helps.

Enough (Poetry) - 7/31/2009 4:33:38 PM
BIGOTRY AND HATE ARE INSTRUMENTS OF THE ENEMY THAT IS USED TO KEEP PEOPLE DIVIDED AND STRIFE GOING ON. ONLY WITH THE TRUE LIGHT OF GOD, CAN ONE'S EYES BE OPENED TO SEE THE TRUTH...THAT ALL CREATION WAS CREATED BY GOD AND APPEARS JUST AS HE WANTED US TO APPEAR...BROTHERS AND SISTERS WE ALL ARE...ONE FATHER ....ONE BLOOD. WE HAVE TO PRAY THAT GOD'S PURE LOVE REACHES AND CHANGES MORE HEARTS AND MINDS. ONLY 'HE' CAN WORK THIS MIRACLE. THANKS FOR SHARING AND GOD BLESS. JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

No more (Poetry) - 7/30/2009 5:56:57 AM
Richard, You've got it so right. It's simple really, countries are only lines drawn by man, so they can fight over those lines. And yes faith is a healer, but if I'm not of your faith, another war. Yet, ironically, every faith wants peace. Mary
