English bread pudding in a story

They told me to take a loaf of sliced bread, and crumble it into irregular small pieces. The Chef then told me to heat a pan and into it place 4 ounces of butter, add a mug o sugar, he left the choice with me but suggested Dark Demarea. Slowly heat it until it is all melted and blended, then remove from the heat.

Into the crumbled laof of bread add a mug of mixed fruit, and mix it around till it is balanced in proportion.

Into your melted butter and sugar add two tablespoons of Rum, and mix well, then add a desert spoon of mixed spice.

Now the Chef said add half a teacup of milk  to the bread crumble mix, and mix well with your hands.

He then told me to add the melted sugar and butter combination into the bread mix, and then mix it all together, but not so seriously that you loose the slightly lumpy texture.

Place it in a suitable baking tray and cook in a pre-heated oven for up to 20 minutes at 200 F.

serve with traditional English custard, or double cream.

It should serve 8, but who is looking.
