The Day I Met Jesus

     Down and out, until I met JESUS>

He was a tall man with very muscular arms and shoulders. His hair was long and his beard was full. The color of his hair was dark brown the same color of his eyes. He walked straight with his head held high. I watched him from my squatting position in the alley next to the Italian Bakery.

 

I often sat there in the alley because the workers in the bakery would throw out old hard bread into the trash bin in the alley. It was all I basically ate every day.

 

Things had become very difficult for me after I was terminated from my job as a welder. The construction industry was virtually shut down due to a rapidly growing depression. It had been three years since I last earned a living.

 

The tall man approached me with a smile and a hand shake. He calmingly said hello my name is Jesus. He then asked if I were busy, I said no and asked in return, why what do you have in mind? He said he had some work to be done as a guidance counselor. I replied I had no experience in tht line of work. He said no matter I just want you to speak to some children.

I was reluctant to leave my spot in the alley, but ended up walking with Jesus to a building three addresses down. The building was boarded up at the windows and most of the doorway. There was a parting of the wood at the doorway it was small, but still large enough for a small person or animal to fit in there. Jesus with a yank of his hand pried one piece of boarding off. He walked through the suddenly larger opening as I followed him.

 

We came upon a two small children both under five years of age. I asked the older one the boy, where are your parents? He shrugged his shoulders indicating he did not know. Jesus then said to me I need you to take these two children to the sisters convent four blocks away. I did so without hesitation. I carried both children as they had no shoes. I rang the convents front door bell, then was greeted by a smiling nun. I told her of my findings with JESUS. She replied she knew because she had dreamed  it so.

 

I left the two children behind at the convent and walked back to my alley. There was a large bag hidden near the dumpster. In it contained $5,000. And A note simply stating thank you my son. Now go get a home, clothing,

and food to eat. I will see you again at heavens gate.
