My life has been filled with its share of tragedies and triumphs. I was born to a poor family in W County Virginia. My father was a coal miner, and my mother was a hard working, God-fearing stay-at- home mother.
We had limited income so therefore the opportunities were limited. My dad worked every day he could to try to provide for his family. My mother only had a third-grade education. In this time, I was being raised; it was more important to work rather than have an education in this part of the country. Times were tough for us, but we had the love of a Bible believing  mother to see us through and try to teach us the right way to go. She also tried to teach us to never give up when things had gotten tougher than usual.
I am the youngest of eleven children. Four of my siblings passed away before I was born. It feels strange knowing that you have three sisters and a brother you have never seen before.
I was born with toxoplasmosis. This is an infection in the eyes that can lead to blindness. i have been blessed to be able to see all my life. I have limited vision and am almost completely blind in my right eye. I write with aid of zoom on th computer and use magnification when necessary. I let nothing stand in my way of achieving my goals and my dreams. I hope to be an inspiration to others.
