Help me to write
And with those four words he pledged his soul to Mesphisto
And went about his buisness
But the devil's desires are insatiable
"You remember me, Elliott." The devil whispered. "I want you to do something for me."
" I thank you for all you've done, what do you need."
"I want you to kill your son, sort of an offering of sorts."
Elliott's jaw dropped and he gasped for breath.
"Isn't there some other way?"
"I'm not here to banter words." the devil hissed. "You have a contract."
"Just give me 24 hours and it will be done."
Elliott drove home in silence. He thought about the two books he had out and the novel he was working on. Then he thought of his eighteen-month-old son. He waited until his wife was fast asleep and crept into his son's bedroom. Picking up a pillow he brought it down over his child's mouth. "What am I doing! Elliott exclaimed. He picked his son up and cradling him in his arms he began to weep.
"I'm so sorry; I'm sorry for everything."
Eighteen hours had passed and he didn't have any idea of what to do. He thought of hiding out in a church but that might buy him only a short reprieve. Instead, he drove to the edge of town, to the old graveyard where he had made his bargain with the devil. Mesphisto was waiting by a row of broken tombstones.
"You have failed to live up to the terms of your agreement." the devil said scornfully. "Now it's time to collect your soul."
There came a fluttering of wings like a thousand locusts hovering. The devil stepped back and Nox the angel of death stood with a crimson sword at her side. She was beautiful with jet black hair that cascaded down her back and emerald eyes that glowed. "You will not take this human, Mesphisto." She commanded. "The Father has use for him."
Her acolyte, the black cat hissed at the devil.
"No my pet, the devil isn't ours to claim at least not yet."
