Studio Reader Stan walks into Ms. Pantsworth’s office, a studio executive at Demure Studios. She smokes a giant cigar.
Ms. Pantsworth: How ya’ doing, Studio Reader Stan? Want a cigar? They’re from Nicaragua.
Studio Reader Stan: No, I don’t smoke. And it’s Larry.
Ms. Pantsworth: What – it’s because I’m a woman, right? If a dude exec offered you a cigar, you’d probably be smoking it right now and offering to find him chicks so he can deal with his mid-life crisis.
Studio Reader Stan: Actually, no, I just don’t smoke.
Ms. Pantsworth: If you insist. Anyway, this script, "Katie’s Illness." I see you gave it a Consider.
Studio Reader Stan: Yes, I thought it was very heartfelt.
Ms. Pantsworth: Well, I read the synopsis and it doesn’t sound funny enough. I’m going to pass.
Studio Reader Stan: It’s about a young homeless girl dying of cancer. I’m pretty sure they weren’t going for laughs.
Ms. Pantsworth: Look, I have a very heavy social agenda, and these scripts are totally getting in the way. So why don’t you just assume I’ll pass on everything.
Studio Reader Stan: Does that include the scripts of my own I’ve given you?
Ms. Pantsworth: I’ll get to them first chance I get. In the meantime, here’s some more scripts for you to tell me to never read.
She hands him several scripts.
Studio Reader Stan: These are the ones I wrote.
Ms. Pantsworth: Really? Well, I trust you’ll be objective. Now hand me that boar axe, it’s time for my three-minute workout.
