A continuation of the adventures of Studio Reader Stan.
Studio Reader Stan meets with his Psychiatrist, Dr. Melrose.
Studio Reader Stan: Doc, no one listens to me. I think have great stories to tell, but I can’t make headway in this town because it's full of people who only care about their own agenda -- no matter how idiotic their agenda is.
Dr. Melrose: Yes, yes, I hear you loud and clear, Studio Reader Stan. I have a similar problem with a screenplay I’m writing called “The Psychiatrist’s Mistress,” in which the psychiatrist has to find a way to keep his girlfriend and mistress from finding out about each other.
Studio Reader Stan: That’s nothing like my problem. And again, my name's Larry.
Dr. Melrose: Oh yeah. But, anyway, getting back to my problem. What do you think's the best way to solve the dilemma while also incorporating a chase scene?
Studio Reader Stan: Seeing as how I’m paying for this session, and my time isn’t up, is it okay if we stuck to my problem?
Dr. Melrose: Absolutely. But speaking of time, what do think’s the best way for me to hit my third plot point on time?
Studio Reader Stan: Doc, you’re making me feel like I’m in grade school again and I can’t get the guidance counselor to pay attention to me.
Dr. Melrose: A flashback! That’s brilliant. I’ll weave that into the second act.
Studio Reader Stan: Is there any chance we're going to address any of my problems today?
Dr. Melrose: Well, your hour’s up, but I think we made great progress today. I should have a completed first draft by your next session.
Dr. Melrose grabs his golf clubs and splits out the door.
