Last week, Ms. Pantsworth of Demure Studios told Studio Reader Stan that she made up a rumor about movie star Valkyrie Booster, but blamed it on him. This week, he meets Valkyrie Booster.
Studio Reader Stan is in the coffee shop when movie star Valkyrie Booster (real name: Lester Bung) storms in.
Valkyrie Booster: Studio Reader Stan, I hear you’re threatening to spread a nasty rumor that I like to club baby penguins in my spare time.
Studio Reader Stan: Not really. But I imagine you’re going to beat me up anyway.
Valkyrie Booster: I would, but I just got a manicure. How could you, man? I love penguins. I’ve been wanting to buy a piece of Antarctica just so I can run a baby penguin sanctuary.
Studio Reader Stan: I’m not sure there’s a need for a penguin sanctuary in Antarctica. They’re pretty much unbothered there.
Valkyrie Booster: Yeah, but I don’t benefit from that.
Studio Reader Stan: Look, Ms. Pantsworth just wants you to be her friend. If that happens, I don’t think she lets this penguin rumor get out.
Valkyrie Booster: Do you think if I become friends with her, she’ll invest in my sanctuary, ‘cause apparently it’s going to cost at least 50 million, and I’ve got my eye on a fleet of new Harleys?
Studio Reader Stan: Well, she’s blown this year’s entire production budget on warding off evil spirits, so I’m sure she’ll be glad to waste next year’s budget on your useless sanctuary.
Valkyrie Booster: That’s terrific news. I wish she tried ruining my career years ago. Think of how many penguins we could have saved.
Studio Reader Stan ponders how someone so stupid could become so successful. Unfortunately, the thought of it depresses him beyond reason.
