This week, Studio Reader Stan makes another ill-advised visit to Mr. Gold's office at Quality Studios.
Studio Reader Stan enters Mr. Gold’s office.
Studio Reader Stan: You wanted to see me, Mr. Gold?
Mr. Gold: Yeah, Studio Reader Stan, I’ve decided to use my lofty position here at the studio to hold a contest to give unknown filmmakers a chance.
Studio Reader Stan: Really? That’s very nice of you.
Mr. Gold: I agree. However, we can’t have everyone in the world eligible or I’d be drowning in films.
Studio Reader Stan: You mean you want some kind of restrictions on who can submit?
Mr. Gold: Exactly. They have to be over 18, but under 21.
Studio Reader Stan: Uh, that's kind of limiting, sir... and probably illegal.
Mr. Gold: When you have a lot of money at your disposal, being legal really isn’t a concern.
Studio Reader Stan: What about being ethical?
Mr. Gold: Yes, I definitely want to make sure we're ethical... Oh yeah, I forgot, the contestants also have to be female.
Studio Reader Stan: Uhhh...
Mr. Gold: And they’ll have to have lingerie modeling experience.
Studio Reader Stan: Correct me if I’m wrong, sir, but this seems like it’s just a ploy for you to meet young women.
Mr. Gold: Y’know, that’s what’s wrong with society today, Studio Reader Stan. You can’t even perform good deeds anymore without someone questioning your agenda.
Studio Reader Stan: Gee, I don’t know how I ever came up with such a wild accusation.
Mr. Gold: Apology accepted. I feel real good about this. I mean, c’mon, do you have any idea how many young filmmakers I’ll be giving a shot to with this contest?
Studio Reader Stan: Two. Maybe three.
Mr. Gold: That’s it? I was hoping there’d be at least 50 so we could have a swimsuit competition to determine the winner... All right, back to the drawing board. Find a way to include more lingerie models then report back to me.
Studio Reader Stan trudges out, wondering why he bothered to wake up this morning.
Tune in next week for more of Studio Reader Stan's adventures...
Studio Reader Stan is good stuff, I wish there was more writing like this: to the point with a sense of humor.
