I read the other day that Roger Clemmons had been called back to the Yankees to the tune of 14 million dollars for a one year contract.
I did some math.
If you consider a pitcher starts every four games, that is about 66 starts in a season. The average pitch count nowdays of around a hundred pitches per game, that is 6,600 pitches per year. Divide $14,000,000.00 by 6,066, and you get roughly $2,121.00 per pitch.
Dayum......I knew I was in the wrong business.
