A true story (almost) about a lost kitten who gets rescued only with cold calculating logic!
The Panic Button had been pressed, it was official.
I should explain that Oscar was a 6 or 7 week old tiger kitty full of verve full of life – all heat and no light as one of the old men would say. Hannah and her sister Lynnie were in the next room – the computer room – probably chatting or doing something girly on the Internet.
“But, you know that I can’t see very well – how can I help?” I asked and stated at the same time – I tend to economize my wording.
“Help!” was all I seem to remember hearing. It wasn’t a plead it was a demand.
So, everyone started looking and as everyone else started to look, I also started to look but in my systematic way. I was cool headed, even keeled and reminded myself of a Mr. Spock in the midst of a host of inmate Captain Kirks at a nut house. I find the human instinct of panic in almost any situation most fascinating and peculiarly predictable. It seems that their motto was “When in doubt, panic.”
