Dear Journal~

Teeka-Teeka here.  Teeka Daniels.  I hope this finds y'all well; I am doing super!!

I'm looking forward to Wednesday and this weekend:  on Weds., our school is having a Thanksgiving party, and for lunch they'll serve turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry dressing, cornbread stuffing.  YUM!! 

And on Thursday we get even MORE turkey and all the trimmin's when we go to the Golden Corral for lunch; then we come home, veg out on the couch (or livingroom floor) and watch football until we peter out and hit the sack by ten.

On Friday, we will be out in the throngs of crazed holiday shoppers, getting started on our Christmas shopping.  I have a general idea what to get everyone, so shoppin' for me should be a snap!  LOL  We'll then go out to eat at Olive Garden or any of the other fine eatin' establishments still in service in the area.

As you know, Galveston was pretty messed up by (Y)Ike in September, just a few short months ago.  Doesn't seem possible that it's been that long already.  Some parts of Galveston are (slowly) coming back to life; other areas will take much longer; there's still evidence of damage all over.  Sad to see. 

Our house is still not ready yet; maybe by Christmas it will be.  Sure hope so; I miss my room, my bed, my things!!!!

On Saturday and Sunday, we have no clue what we are going to do, maybe continue with our Christmas shopping if we don't get done on Friday.  LOL Or perhaps catch a movie or something.  We can sleep until noon if we want; that's why I love long holiday weekends:  we can do what we want without the teachers gettin' on our case!!

Rigth now the weather's beautiful:  sunny, clear, pristine, azure skies, cool breezes blowin' in from the north, low humidity:  just perfect!  Couldn't ask for better weather; I'm soooo glad the hurricane season's just about over this year; we had a rough one this year here on the Texas Gulf Coast!!

We had two bad hurricanes (Ike being the worst); we're all hurricane'ed out!!  We need a break from all these storms; I've since become extremely storm-phobic since then! 

Even if there's a small, remote POSSIBLITY or a CHANCE of storms, I'm freakin' out, wishin' we had a basement (or some other type of shelter) to go to, where we could wait out the storm and be safe!!  This having no shelters or basement is the pits, the absolute PITS!!

Well, I am going to go; mama needs me to help her set the table.  I will write in here again soon; if I don't write before Turkey Day, I want to wish y'all and yours a very blessed, happy Thanksgiving; may it be full of God's bountiful blessings--and THEN some!!  Be happy, and above all, be SAFE!
