Charlie-The-Crazy here.  Not doing very well, I'm afraid.

In the hospital.  Am at a local county hospital that handles charity cases.  Have pneumonia.  Got sick last week and am feeling better enough to eat a little and to write a little.

The doctors and nurses here treat me real nice.  They make sure I am not in too much discomfort with my breathing and give me stuff for the chest pain I'm having.  It's not my heart that's botherin' me; it's my lungs.  Coughing my brains out and awful' short of breath.  Oxygen helps it some.

The only thing I don't like: them botherin' me at hours of the nitght for a pill or a shot or soething or t'other.  I don't like the sticks in my arms or them messin' round with the IV's.  

I am tryin' my best to behave, and so far I'm doin' okay.  At least George Washington, Barack Obama, and George C. Bush ain't botherin' me; they know I been sick, so they've pretty much left me alone.  I am more lucid than I've been in weeks; must be the drugs they are givin' me for the pneumonia.

Maybe it's good I am here.  It's been hotter'n a fourth of July firecracker most of this summer; accordin' to the weather guys on the tv, they say there's one more hundred degree day, then it's supposed to cool to the eighties and nineties.  Firgures.  Weather's gonna get better, but I'm stuck here in the hospital, so I can't get out and enjoy it unless I go out for a smoke break or to get some fresh air (and walk my dog ... my IV pole ... as I go).

Well, the vampires are here.  Guess they gonna take more blood.  I will write in here again when I'm feelin' better or out somewheres.  Until then, this is Charlie-the-Crazy signin' outta here, but do me one favor before I go:  say some prayers for me.  They would be very much apreciated!  Thanks in advance!
