     Consider me blessed.

I have a lot to be grateful for, and I am not as bad off as are a lot of people.

This is Gemini speaking. I am now 11 years old, and although I may have my problems, I am a lot better off than most people.

For starters, I have my health. I may have epilepsy and have seizures from time to time, but my epilepsy doesn't have ME. (I have to take medication to help control my seizures; and if I have a seizure I have to be placed onto my side, so I don't choke on my spit; and I have to make sure that I am not injured during the course of my seizure. This is why, whenever I have a seizure, someone has to move objects out of the way, so I don't risk hurting myself. Someone also has to stay with me, just in case I may stop breathing or choke on my spit. They will stay with me until my seizure stops, usually in just a few minutes. If it doesn't stop right away, then they will have to call an ambulance, and I will have to go to a nearby hospital, to get checked out, to make sure all is well with me.)

Having epilepsy hasn't been easy for me, but I am on medication that has (mostly) controlled my seizures; and my epilepsy isn't nothing, compared to diseases like AIDS, cancer, or neuromuscular type diseases. And I know a kid in my school who has to deal with living with a horrible disability that has affected her face. She was born with tumors on her face, and her face is horribly misshapen because of it. She has a tracheostomy, and she has been made fun of or stared at; she doesn't have many friends--that is, excepting for me. Her name is Aimi, and she has something called "cystic hygroma", which she was born with; and any surgery she might have may prove to be very risky. (Aimi is new at my school. She seems nice; but as I said, she doesn't have very many friends because of her facial problems. Many kids have teased her, and because of it, she is very shy. I have learned to ignore her facial disfigurments, and also her trache tube; but I get so mad when other kids stare at her or run away from her; or especially when they laugh at her or call her "Monster Face". Don't these kids know that Aimi is just like me, excepting she has a severe disability, and that teasing isn't NICE??)

I also am smart, and I am talented at dancing and at doing gymnastics. (I am NOT bragging; this just happens to be two good things I am good at. I have won awards for both my dancing and my gymnastic abilities.) I am also good at playing the drums. (I have been playing the drums for 6 years. I took lessons when I was 5.)

In addition, I am good at school, and I make very good grades in all my classes.

I am also blessed because even though I lost my parents at the age of 1 year and came from a foreign country (Japan; I was born in Tokyo, Japan), I was adopted at the age of 3, and I have come to love my adoptive family very, very much! They are my family, and I have always considered the Sanduskys to be my family. (I don't remember my early life; but I was told that my parents died in a fire. I was just a baby then.) I consider Bill and Louisiana Sandusky as "Mama" and "Daddy", and I have always considered them as my parents, ever since I first joined their family; and I have also learned to accept and love all of my adopted brothers and sisters.

Another blessing I have is that I live in America now. I became a citizen at the age of 6, and I have learned to cherish all what America stands for and my freedom. I may have been born in Japan, but I am an AMERICAN now, and I love my country very, very much!

Still another blessing I have is the fact that I am not poor or struggling with things like abuse, alcoholism, violence, drug use,
or homelessness. My family isn't poor; but we're NOT rich; we are somewhere in the middle to lower upper class. We have money, but most of it goes towards us kids and towards medical bills. Mama and daddy both have to work to help out with the expenses that come with having a big family like ours. A family like ours ISN'T cheap, not by a LONG shot!! In fact, a family like ours is pretty darn EXPENSIVE!!

But perhaps the biggest blessing I have in my life right now is the fact that I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Personal Lord and Saviour; I accepted Him into my life almost a year-and-a-half ago at "Heaven's Gates and Hell's Flames" (it was a year ago this past July). Because of this, I am most assuredly on my way to Heaven, and all my sins are erased, forever. I am now a Child of God, and I am forgiven of ALL my sins!!

Karen - Well done! BUT I'm confused!

Did you really write this at age 11? Is Gemini really you?

And finally, you and Karla are twins, right? Maybe you should not be reading those "NASTY" pieces I wrote, HUH?

luv, Tom.
