M'buti here.
I am really concerned nowadays. Our country is at war with Iraq, and after five days, there are already over 2 dozen American soldiers dead. Some are also missing, and five are thought to have been kidnapped. Saddam is still spouting off, and he is still alive. And there is ~no~ telling what the weeks ahead may bring. It is really a sad and dark time here in America (and the WORLD, really!).
But I have my family to keep me busy, and to help keep my mind off the war. I am the mother of three small children, a boy of nearly 3 (Jubaki will be 3 years old in June), and twin babies who are just a month old. They were born on Valentine's Day, and they are tiny Miracles who have given me hope and joy. Eshe and Kibarake are really growing, and they are the sweetest, most loving little ones around! (But then, I CAN say that; I'm their mother! :) )
Roberto is still working hard at his nursing job at Nashville Memorial Hospital; he works nights (and sometimes days), and he works at least 6 days a week. He works 12 hours each day, and when he comes home all he wants to do is SLEEP! But on the day he is off, he is busy, busy, busy around the house, taking care of the chores and yard; and meanwhile, I am stuck inside, taking care of the children. I sometimes wish I could help Roberto with the yardwork or the chores, but I am physically unable to, and I still get tired rather quickly. I am still using my walker (but have been using my sticks more lately; I am getting stronger, it seems) or my wheelchair. There ARE days where I feel absolutely ~horrid~, thanks to my fibromyalgia or low blood pressure acting up; but I usually feel (PRETTY) good. Today is a good day for me.
Roberto is still in the Reserves, but because of the fact that I am disabled and have 3 small children, he couldn't go (and then, I wouldn't ~WANT~ him to go, either!). So he is home with me, even though there is a war going on. I thank God he is here with me and not in that desert with God knows what. I would be so scared to think of my husband being in that area of the world, what with the bombs going off or people being killed! If anything should happen to Roberto if he were there, I would go ~CRAZY~ with worry!!
I am trying not to think of the war, but when that is all that is on the television, it is hard to escape it; so I just leave the television off, or I put on the Christian channel or "Sesame Street" for the children. That way, I know they can watch it and not worry about the things of the world. They are much too young to worry about that stuff!
Louisiana has been keeping me informed of HER family's lives, and from the sounds of things, it sounds like she has been very busy. Their two foster children, Hanh Ly and Linn Chan, are no longer there, at their house; they have gone to the Pearson family in Texas. They miss the two girls badly; in fact, today, when I talked to Miss Louisiana, she was crying when she picked up the phone. And Ronee' is getting better; she had another "flare" with her arthritis, and she HAD been in the hospital; but she is now home, and she is starting to get well again. Now her friend, Nicole, is sick; but she isn't in the hospital. But she still feels terrible, I am sure of that!
Johnny is having problems, too, Miss Louisiana said; she said he had another seizure over the weekend, and it's left him tired. He isn't himself, and she says all he wants to do is sleep. He's been having more of those seizures lately, and it always scares me when he does. It looks like he is dying, and I sometimes wonder if he is. But she said they are nothing to worry about, and she knows how to take care of them when they DO happen. (THANK GOD!!)
Our truck is FINALLY fixed; Roberto had an accident during the one ice storm that hit here in Nashville, and he slid into a guardrail or something on the way home from work. The side where I sit was all dented in, and you couldn't open the door. But now the truck looks like new, and all is well again. The mechanics who fixed our truck did a good job; even repainted it for us. It looks like we just GOT the truck when we've had it for over a year and a half now! (Roberto wasn't hurt in the wreck I just mentioned, but he DID have a sore butt when he fell that day while talking to the policeman about the accident!) (Our truck is a four door, and it is a Chevy Silverado. It is a pretty burnt orange color, and it just shines in the sun! Roberto got it at the car dealership, and he really loves it! So do I!)
Speaking of cars, Roberto is thinking of getting me a little Slugbug (Volkswagon, they call it, I think). He will take me next week to look at the slugbugs, and I get to choose the color I want; and then I SHOULD have my car a few weeks later. But first, I have to learn to drive it! :)
I will write more later; Eshe is crying. It is time for me to feed her. Until next time, take care!
