The S.S.Thorn was the latest in the line of
ships that just patrol off the shores of our
country,presently their assigment took th-
em to the waters off the Florida coastline .

The ship itself was a secret to everyone
including  her crew up until the day she
was commissioned too.

And even better the S.S. Thorn was the
first of it's kind,a hybrid ship, it could be
a submarine one minute but still ride on
the surface life a regular ship does .And
to her crew it was more important that it
did that because of the enemy never to
knew what hit them .

To Jon Lopur the idea of what his ship in
fact could do was unthinkable, and it was
completely twenty firstcentury modernized
technology that enabled the S.S. Thorn to
do what it did, and Captain Lopur was then
pleased with both crew and ship as well.

It was 0900 and the crew was just having
their breakfast and he would have his as
soon as his second in command would
get there right now things were normal as
fact that the S.S. Thorn was cruising normal
no outside activity whatsoever, except a few
fish swimming by and one school of dolphin.

Sometimes it felt a little cramp when the S.S.
Thorn was a sub ,it was cold too as the vent
system was on,pumping cool air throughout
the ship so the men wouldn't feel hot or even
toasted .

John looked through the periscope and smile
all was clear,a blowfish stared back at him as
it got fatter .So far no foreign objects were near
or in the area they were patrolling now which in
fact made Captain Lopur feel relieved now too.

And Captain Lopur was taught be parepared to
react to anything out here respond accordingly.

' Captain,' came the sudden voice of sonar op-
erator Dun Ester,' Sonar is picking up unusual
activity ahead of us, uknown object or objects
within out path, origin undetermied at this time.'

' Keep scanning Dun,let me know when you got
more info,' ordered Captain Lopur..

Dun kew his job and knew it well, he was only
twenty three and like the rest of the crew itself
no one on board was over thirty,Captain Lopur
himself was only twenty six .

' All hands this is the Captain, red alert evasive
actions, missiles ready and launch at my order
only, sonar maintain scan, let me know what they
are as soon as you do.'

' Aye ,sir.'

Then we waited to see what would happen next,
it didn't take long to see or too wait at all .

end ?
