As a matter of fact Zachary Smith along with Will and the Robot lead the first expedition on the new planet.It was Will's idea to let Dr.Smith get used to the planet,but inside his mind the doctor was already planning his way off the planet and back to Earth . Alpha Centauri he hated the name even . Earth was a more pleasant name for a then planet ,after all he was born there. Then the planet had hills,trees and planets,tiny animals scurrying about.And yet Smith remembered Earth . They came across a formation of hills and caves and started to explore them . Yet Smith started to think already of how to get off of Alpha Centauri and back to Earth,the trouble that Smith could not believe was once he was back on Earth people were already to try and judge Smith for what he did .Because unknown to everyone cameras were built on the ship to automatically take pictures as to what wss going on and transmitted them to Earth so when Smith tried to reprogram the Robot to destroy the spaceship he was already seen by those on the base itself too .So even if he did return to Earth Dr.Smith would stand trail for what he did.
