Toy Story 3 & Reflections about toys that I used as a kid and about Piglet, a favorite toy for all of our 3 children.
JP, our 12 y/o, and I really enjoyed going to see "Toy Story3 " recently - it was a great movie and helped to spur on some sharing about our own special toy memories - even a "tear-jerker" for this guy! We both remembered JP having one of those "Buzz Lightyear" toys. My favorite childhood toy that was like my first bike was an old fashioned skateboard (with metal wheels) that had a shark pic on it. I had passed it on to our older son, Andrew, but it broke and went to skateboard heaven around the time when "rollerblades" were taking over. My older brother and I(in our early 50s) used to have crash games wearing football helmets as we would kneel on our skate boards - with the resultant "many a scab / scars" to boot! One toy that all of our kids enjoyed that we still have is "Piglet," who was made by Miriam way back in 1984 when Maria-Therese, our oldest child was born. Miriam was my "Ayuda" senior employee per Catholic Charities in New Orleans who made "dress-up" stuffed animals that helped teach kids to dress - button up. While Piglet has long lost those outer garment teaching enhancements, it has survived 3 kids' cuddlings when going to bed, tears from hugs when the kids went through hard times, throwing around, dogs chewings, etc. Thanks, Piglet, for all those memories you've brought to us and for the many more to come!
