Last week a friend confided in me that her life was a train wreck (her words). She took a deep breath and wiped another tear with the back of her hand. She continued for about forty-five minutes and then said, "I'm crazy, aren't I!" It was more of a statement than a question.
I'm wondering why it is that when we feel we don't live up to the expectations other people have of us, that we are the ones who feel something is wrong with us.
I assured my friend she is not "crazy." The word that came to mind was overwhelmed.
In our attempt to take care of everyone else, often times we neglect ourselves. I have been reminded of that very fact myself.
I'm thinking this is a great time of the year to remember to reach out to our family and friends. Those people who are caregivers may need some extra love themselves.
None of us needs to feel overwhelmed. Reach out to them the way Jesus reaches out to each of us.
