Last week a Bigfoot sighting was reported to the San Antonio, Texas, police department. Actually, several calls were documented. The police checked them out, but refused to take off into the woods and brush, searching for the beast. Several people witnessed a Bigfoot-like animal kill a deer and drag it into the nearby woods. It was noted that the group witnessing the incident seemed truly upset and credible. A T.V. and newspaper reporter eventually visited the scene giving it perfunctory coverage. In the end, a poll was taken by newspaper or T.V., it was unclear, to determine what percentage of San Antonio’s population believed that these reports were of a real Bigfoot. The results of the poll are this: 30.7% believed it was a real Bigfoot and 69.3% believed it was not a real Bigfoot.
It surprises me that so little of the population believes that Bigfoot exists. We’ve of late had excellent T.V. coverage of the subject. But still, one is either interested in it or not. I will admit that there are so many more important things happening in this world than substantiating that Bigfoot exists. When the technician that installed my high speed internet connection was leaving, I asked him what his thoughts were on Bigfoot. He said, the subject had little or no place in his thoughts or life. (Many people feel and think this way: remember the San Antonio poll results.) The technician has spent much time in the mountains and forests and has never seen a Bigfoot for himself. I will say, however, by the time he left, he was at least giving thought to the possibility of the animal’s existence. The reason I brought the subject up at all was that I wanted to give him one of our Bigfoot children’s books as a gift, which he graciously accepted.
I’m enjoying writing and researching Bigfoot for my new blog which I call, Bigfoot Ballyhoo. The word, ballyhoo, can mean outlandish publicity. The internet is brimming with blogs and websites, so I needed a name that stands out. I take the whole subject of Bigfoot lightly, for I too have more serious things to think about. But the animal and its discovery makes me think of the earth and all the life forms on it; it makes me think of the Creator of it all; it makes me thankful for the ability to reason and appreciate this life I was given. Bye,until next week, Linda.
