My Wife Always turned into a child
at Christmas
We married in 1951 and she always turned into an excited five year old at Christmas. It amused me but after the children grew up and left home she kept it up and I recall once threatening to spend Christmas in a Muslim country to
get away from her infantile excitement.
We separated after 30 years but remained friends and somehow ended up spending most Christmases together for the next 35 years. She developed dementia and spent her last three years in a nursing home. Last year she was very quiet at Christmas. We lost her last March. This year there won't be any excitement for
Christmas but I'll sing a carol for her.
