Once upon a time, in a lush and lively jungle, there lived a dazzling peacock named Megan. His feathers shimmered like a rainbow after rain—vivid, radiant, and patterned with nature’s finest brushstrokes. Megan was undeniably beautiful. But sadly, he was also unbearably proud.
Whenever another animal admired him, Megan would huff, turn his back, and strut away, thinking, “I’m far too magnificent for the likes of them.”
One day, the animals gathered beneath the great baobab tree for a meeting with Helen the Lion, their wise and regal queen. “We’ve had enough of Megan’s arrogance,” they grumbled. “Please, Your Majesty, speak to him for us.” As their voices faded into silence, no one noticed a small kangaroo quietly bouncing away—his mind already brimming with a plan.
The very next morning, while Megan was admiring his reflection in a pond, the little kangaroo hopped up and asked politely, “May I have one of your feathers, please?” Megan didn’t even reply. He simply turned his back, as usual.
Hurt but determined, the kangaroo shared his experience with Koala, who told the others. Word spread quickly, and from that day on, the jungle animals decided to ignore Megan completely.
The following morning, Megan peered into the pond again—but something was terribly wrong. His feathers had lost their colour! No shimmer, no shine—just dull, lifeless plumes.
When he stepped outside, the animals gasped. Megan had become so plain, so unrecognizable, that no one could bear to look at him. Laughter echoed through the trees, and Megan felt a sadness he’d never known before.
Realizing the pain he had caused, Megan finally spoke from the heart: “I’m sorry. I was wrong. I understand now.” And just like magic, his feathers began to glow again—brighter than ever.
From that day forward, Megan was kind to everyone. He made many friends, shared his feathers generously, and learned that true beauty comes from how you treat others.
