This story is a Mother's plea to her daughter to get help for drug abuse. I will leave out names although this is a true story.
May the parents that read this understand that there are many, many of you that deal with this situation and you are not alone.
To the young adults that read this, please take it as a warning about drug use....

Dear E-

I want you to know that you are still loved by me and your kids. I also want you to know how much you're hurting all of us.
The kids miss you terribly and J cries for you sometimes..
I can't say I understand what you're doing but that drug must be more powerful than your will to live.

I want you to read what I wrote 2 years ago when you first started doing this....

      Mother Of A Crack Addict

When my daughter was 5 years old she didn't say she wanted to grow up to be a crack addict- it just happened. Odd, that she didn't get addicted until she was in her twenties, had already been married and had 2 beautiful children; a sweet little boy, 6 and a beautiful 3 year old girl.
I didn't learn about crack (or ever wanted to) until I was in my 50s. But in the last 3 months I've learned (by myself and from her experience) the horrible hell an addict must deal with.
I never attended a Narcotics Anonymous meeting and have never been inside a crack house, although I've been at a few front doors trying to get her out.
Many nights, or next mornings, she's come home sobbing, hugged her kids and swore she'd never do it again. She would cry and say how sorry she was and that she didn't want to lose her family. She looked like " walking death".
How can she afford it? Stealing, lying, selling her food stamps and her body. God knows what else.
When hours pass I wonder when I'm going to get that knock on the door that tells me to get to the ER- or that maybe she's already gone; that they found her on a filthy crack house floor, dead from back to back hits of crack causing heart failure.
How will I tell her children?? How do I explain to them that Mommy had a terrible addiction that finally killed her?
I will plan to raise her children.
I want to go to the crack house and blow away the first person that answers the door. I want to destroy the bastard that got her hooked by pretending he was interested in her and giving her a free hit and then using her body.
Does she think these punks are her friends?? Oh, please give me a break!
I feel the same way about crack dealers as I do about wife beaters, rapists and child molesters- more so murderers because they're taking a life...one that used to come home with a smile and something for her kids. Now she comes home short-tempered and cursing (she must be coming down).
She buys the dealers' friends groceries from her food stamp card in exchange for money to buy more crack, while her children eat eggs, hot dogs and bread. These punks eat better than her own kids do!
Is there a cure? I want my daughter back!

                              ~End?~

E, now that you've read this, I want you to sit down and write a letter to your kids. I want you to tell them why you won't come by to see them.
I want you to explain to them that you'll be dying soon because you won't get help.
I want you to let them know that these drugs are more important than they are! That you are too hooked to even call and talk to them.
I won't show it to them while they're little, it would break their hearts. But I want them to know, when they're older, what drugs have done to their mother.

We love you E. Please get help.

               Love Mom & Kids
