just a little background on the Alpha Tabby that we love so well.
She was sitting there sound asleep while her littermates were causing a ruckus around her. We asked the pet store lady if we could hold her. She opened the crate and picked her up. She looked at the kitten to make sure she was clean and handed her to me.
“She’s a quiet one. There was a man in here the other day that was holding her for about 20 minutes and decided on another kitten because this one didn’t purr or meow. He insisted that there must be something wrong with her.”
I looked down, stroked her under the chin with my thumb, she yawned and let out the cutest of kitten meows and started to purr. “Well, I’ve had her for about 5 minutes now and she seems fine to me.” I handed her over to Robin.
We walked around a little more passing her back and forth between us and getting supplies for our first kitten.
She decided to sit on my shoulder for a little bit and when my parrot kitten got tired of that and started to walk down my back to go explore Robin held her again.
We took our kitten home after buying the needed things and showed her the apartment. She fell in love with us just as quickly as we fell in love with the little kitten that fit in the palm of my hand.
I had to work that weekend and every waking moment Robin had over the next 2 days was spent with that precious little kitten sleeping on her chest, so, of course, it only took 2 days to spoil that tiny kitten rotten.
My mom bred and raised Shetland Sheepdogs when I was growing up mainly because she is allergic to cats, so this was my first cat. I decided to name her Dot because I had never had a pet named Dot. Growing up, we named many litters after some weird things and never had a Dot. Since I didn’t want to jinx my first cat I decided not to use airports or cereals again. Yes we named one male dog Cheerio and the other male Logan.
Dot has turned out to be a very unique tabby cat. She hates men, especially ones that wear Drakkar Noir, and all other strangers that come to the house. She is the Alpha Cat, the Queen of all She Surveys and most importantly Psycho cat.
I thought it was unusual for a cat to play fetch, but it isn’t as weird as I thought it was. I have found others that have cats that play fetch but none as enthusiastically as Dot. Crumple up a piece of paper anywhere within earshot, and for those of you that have never owned a cat or dog that translates into anywhere in the house, and even if she is sound asleep her ears will perk up and she is WIDE awake and ready for you to throw it for her. She will also bring you a ball-ball in the middle of the night when you are sound asleep. Which means when you get up in the morning you have a flat crumpled piece of paper that Dot is patiently waiting for you to throw.
