A little ditty from a while ago. Short and funny. Hope you enjoy it.
Dear Mike,
Thank you for being a great brother. You have been there ever since the boy who I thought he was a man left me pregnant with your nephew. At seventeen, you stepped up and filled in as a man for Jimmy and he looks up to you as the father figure in his life. I am thankful for the nurturing and discipline you show him while you are together. You are teaching him to work, play, and love as he grows. You are presenting a very good picture of what it means to be a man.
However, I received a phone call from his first grade Principal on Wednesday asking me to meet with him on Thursday after school of this week. At this meeting, there was another mother who said Jimmy taught her son a trick she found disgusting and somewhat disturbing. Jimmy asked her son what a frog says, then proceeded to fart on cue. Her son came home from school and tried the same trick on her, now she is appalled and we are in a meeting for it.
Thursday evening, I asked Jimmy about this joke and he said you showed him Sunday night what a frog says. He thought it was funny. The boys on the playground thought it was funny. I think it is cute when he showed me Thursday night. I even suspect the Principal thought it was funny and did his best not to show it. The other mother did not see the humor in bodily function jokes and does not want her child exposed to this ruckus behavior.
Jimmy does not understand why something is funny, but wrong at the same time. You created the situation and I am hoping you can help correct the situation since Jimmy looks up to you as the man in his life. When I told you by phone, you laughed and said it was not a big deal. Just remember, you have been my brother for 24 years of my 26 years, but I been your big sister all your life. Being three years older, this afforded me the pleasure and duty being the older sister and dominating over you when necessary. Do not make me pull the big sister card on this situation and Mom will not protect you in this case.
Now I have carefully reread your first paragraph I am beginning to understand what and who the characters are. I don't know why I didn't get that earlier.
I agree with Eva, the Principal would have a bigger fish to fry rather than to chase after a joke. Thank you for sharing!
Having spent many years in the elementary school trenches, I would think a principal would have bigger fish to fry than chastising a youngster over what a frog says. Or, at least not make a bigger deal than warranted.
