Flash fiction from a bad dream.

Dragged From My Grave by a Bear Ron AI

It’s dark. I hear them talking—arguing about what to do with me as I lie here on the floor in the boardroom. They’re plotting to take my piece of the company and use it to their own advantage—the company I founded. The company I brought them all into as trusted partners. Don’t they know I can hear them?

I feel no pain, but sense something rather weird has happened. From my head downward something is terribly wrong …

They’re carrying me. It’s dark in here. I’m bounced around, and I think I must be in a car. We stop.

They’re dragging me through the woods. Sticks scratch me and wet leaves rub my head and neck… They stop. I hear them digging. I’ve landed on cold wet dirt and they’re throwing it in my face… I can’t breathe…

Am I in a grave? I’ll be safe here, I think. My mind wanders back to the board room and why? I have to know…

I hear digging, again. But not with a shovel, this is different. I feel the hot breath and rank slobber of a bear’s hold with its teeth on me dragging me again through the dark. Its ripped open my stomach and is eating my offal …

I hear smaller creatures. They are stripping off strips of my skin and greedily relishing my flesh underneath…

Suddenly, my mouth is so full of meat I can’t chew or swallow it. I can’t even breathe … Choke, Spit, spit, spit … There, I’ve got only one piece left, and it’s tasting great. Some of the best I’ve ever eaten raw and full of warm blood.

What am I doing! Eating my own flesh—damn!

I feel them again clawing at my scalp, ripping off pieces and devouring me to the point where I think I’m going to finally, fully leave …

But not before I get even!

(Silence.)
