The young student questions the wise master after attending a funeral
As they rested by the river the young man looked inquisitly at the old master and asked;
Q. Master why is it that people die? A. So that others may be born. Yet the true question is not why they die but rather why they live!
Q. Master why is the body laid in the earth? A. Because the vultures of the air don't discriminate.
Q. Master does it matter if a body is buried or cremated? A. Only when Real Estate is at a premium.
Q. Master how shall we honor the dead? A. As you would the living; be pleasant and curtious but above all, do no harm!
Q. Master, why is it that only man has inteligence? A. Because the Crocodiles have yet to evolve!
Q. Master, where does the spirit go after it leaves the body? A. The Dragonfly must first exist as a slug hugging the rocks in the river of life before it is born again, rising above its former self and flying off with a new understanding of nature. Where it goes is wholy dependent on its wing strength!
Q. Master, what shall we put on your grave-stone as a proper epitaph? The master smiled gently at the boldness of his bright young pupil and studied him with the blank look of introspection. A. I would prefer a Magnolia sapling, for its roots will remember thee long after thy family tree!
Wise ponderings... "The Master and his pupil" strikes ontological thoughts, and leads the reader to a learning adventure.
The fifth question affirms a scientifc or assumed position, and the answer doesn't stand to back scientific ground. The misinterpretation of the words INTELLIGENCE and INTELLECT is still one tall and long wall blocking the road to understanding.
I have enjoyed the reading of "The Master and his pupil".
